Patriot has been dealing with them in Ukraine with a 100 second intercept window. Aegis, being a ship based system, thus able have a much larger sensor and control suit, is at least 1 if not 2 generations in advance of Patriot To hit a moving carrier battle group from where Russia is deploying, the intercept window is about 4-5 minutes.

Hyper sonic cannot be steered. The physic at that speed will destroys the missile if you attempt to steer them. So hyper sonic is a good system at unmoving land based targets has real hard time with moving targets. Aegis was going to be used as part of the Strategic Defense Initiative (AKA Star Wars"). So hundreds of billions over 3 decades was spent by the US, Israel, NATO studying this problem of how to intercept missiles. Iron Dome in Israel is one of the products of all that money. As for it "not being a threat" the no reason to say what he sais UNLESS he means it as a threat

Japan is better off despite the higher level of debt to GDP. We have some time bombs on the horizon in the form of Medicare in 2028 and SS in 2034. They represent an unfunded likability of over $100 trillion.

You know better than I do about local politics in Houston. Whatever happens, you can bet election fraud will be rampant.

As always, this will depend on the turn-out, especially EARLY voting turn-out.

If enough WHITE voters turnout in early voting, the option to cheat is greatly diminished since there simply are not enough Blacks in the City to "manufacture" votes, but yes, there will be cheating

Medicare in 2028 and SS in 2034.

My money is on SS being cut 15-20% for most based on something the Feds come up with. 401(k) amount, etc. sometime in/around 2030

looks like Laura Fink dem strategist on now with Hungry Howie discarded the clown look for a complete makeover....

I could hardly believe it was her. And she did make at least a little sense, too, by acknowledging the malfeasance of much of the MSM reporting on the Hammas rocketing. Maybe it was a double of her, lol.

Does the Aegis system work against hypersonic missiles?

Uh... Yes, it does. Aegis can even track ICBMs and SLBMs if within radar range. Ballistic missiles are by definition "hypersonic", in fact, much faster than the Russian Kinzals.

The Russians throw the term "hypersonic" around like it was some world-changing super weapon--it's not.

Several Kinzals have already been shot down by Ukrainian deployed Patriot missiles.

Hyper sonic cannot be steered. The physic at that speed will destroys the missile if you attempt to steer them. So hyper sonic is a good system at unmoving land based targets has real hard time with moving targets.

What Are Hypersonic Weapons and Who Has Them?

Hypersonic weapons fly at speeds of at least Mach 5 and are highly maneuverable and able to change course during flight. They are different from ballistic missiles, which can also travel at hypersonic speeds (of at least Mach 5) but have set trajectories and limited maneuverability.

What are the different kinds of hypersonic weapons?

There are two main categories of hypersonic weapons: hypersonic glide vehicles and hypersonic cruise missiles.

Hypersonic glide vehicles are launched from a rocket. The glide vehicle then separates from the rocket and “glides” at speeds of at least Mach 5 toward a target.

Hypersonic cruise missiles are powered by high-speed, air-breathing engines.

What is their significance?

The ability to launch highly maneuverable weapons at hypersonic speeds gives any country a considerable advantage, because such weapons can evade just about any defense system currently in use.

"It doesn't matter what the threat is. If you can't see it, you can't defend against it," General John Hyten, the former vice chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, told an audience in Washington in January 2020.

As the commander of U.S. Strategic Command in 2018, Hyten said, “We don't have any defense that could deny the deployment of such a weapon against us. … Our defense is deterrent capability.”

U.S. officials have said that while there are some ground-based radars that can detect hypersonic weapons, there are not enough to give adequate warning of an attack. Officials, like the now-retired Hyten, have advocated the construction of a space-based radar system.

Ballistic missiles can also travel at hypersonic speeds of at least Mach 5, but they have set trajectories and limited maneuverability.

Russia

Russia has been pursuing hypersonic weapon technology since the 1980s and in just the past several days has become the first nation to deploy hypersonic weapons in combat, launching at least one such missile against a target in Ukraine, according to a Western military official.

Russian military officials claimed on March 19 that they fired hypersonic missiles for the first time in Ukraine to target what they said was an underground weapons storage site in the west of the country.

On March 21, U.S. President Joe Biden confirmed Moscow’s use of a hypersonic missile, saying, “It's the only thing that they can get through with absolute certainty,” and further calling the use of the technology as “consequential.”

Russian officials say the hypersonic missile used in Ukraine was its Kinzhal model, which was launched from a military jet. Russia also boasts of having a hypersonic glide vehicle, the Avangard, and is developing the Tsirkon, a ship-launched hypersonic cruise missile.

Reports indicate the Avangard carries a nuclear warhead. Russian news outlets have further claimed the Avangard has been deployed in service since December 2019.

Here is a Scientific American article that provides a more detailed analysis of hypersonic weapons. There is plenty of hype about their capabilities, but I wouldn't discount the threat they pose.

The Physics and Hype of Hypersonic Weapons--These novel missiles cannot live up to the grand promises made on their behalf, aerodynamics shows

Trump also befriended the Saudis especially MBS and even had some repertoire between mbs and Israel. He works his magic like no one else. He knew how to keep the us out of harms way for sure.

I'm afraid you are right about "no one gets to be president of ukraine without being corrupt" that will always be a problem. Even as good as trump was he had his problems there. Although Putin seems to have taken out some of the underground problems of drugs, human smuggling and the rest. The tunnels and Israel are a worry for me. I don't know how they take out the terrorists in their home ground yet protect the hostages which have to be down there.

Nor should you over hype them, either.

Another issue for Russia is the ability to produce mass quantities of these weapons. The first flight was in 2018. They've only produced about 150 since, and since lost a dozen or so over Ukraine.

BUT...

The idea that Putin will use them against our carriers in the Med is rather preposterous. We have NO quarrel with Russia in that part of the world unless they want to have one.

By law, SS benefits must be cut to revenue received, which would mean a cut of about 20%. I don’t see that happening. I see entitlements being more means-tested. It is already headed that way with Medicare, which has a tiered system of premium payments based on income.

Nor should you over hype them, either.

Which is why I provided the Scientific American article. The people who over-hype them are CIC Biden on down.

On March 21, U.S. President Joe Biden confirmed Moscow’s use of a hypersonic missile, saying, “It's the only thing that they can get through with absolute certainty,” and further calling the use of the technology as “consequential.”

The idea that Putin will use them against our carriers in the Med is rather preposterous. We have NO quarrel with Russia in that part of the world unless they want to have one.

There is a Russian naval base in Syria. Russia has supported the administration of incumbent President Bashar al-Assad of Syria since the beginning of the Syrian conflict in 2011: politically, with military aid, and with direct military involvement. The 2015 deployment to Syria marked the first time since the end of the Cold War in 1991 that Russia entered an armed conflict outside the borders of the former Soviet Union.

And the Iranians are also in Syria supporting Assad. And we are in Syria.

The destroyer USS Carney was operating in the northern Red Sea when it shot down missiles and drones originating from Yemen. We are all over the region increasing our exposure to a wider war. We need to get out Amcits and non-essential Embassy personnel throughout the region. They will become targets if they already aren't.

No one is saying that Putin will use them against our carrier groups, but he made a point of saying the supersonic aircraft would enable Russian aviation to monitor developments in the Mediterranean, particularly given the escalating conflict between Israel and the Islamist Hamas group in the region.

“I stressed that this is not a threat, but we will exercise visual control, control with weapons of what is happening in the Mediterranean Sea,” the Russian president said.

This is the real reason:

Putin’s announcement came a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv had deployed US long-range ATACMS missiles for the first time against two Russian airfields.

I am reading that the Chinks are posting/testing some of their Naval fleet assets in the Mediterranean, probably checking out both the U.. capabilities, but Also Russia's as they may be seeing an opportunity to gain some Siberian land in the not too distant future

So now we see the plan. If they, the obama govt. keeps interest rates up, the staggering cost of the interest on the debt will eventually collapse the dollar. We are probably already bankrupt but we will be officially bankrupt when we can't pay the interest.
All they have to do is claim they are fighting inflation which they are also causing and keep the rates up high spend as much as they possibly can and our financial system comes crashing down on our heads.
At that point the govt. will try and take over everything if Trump has not already come back.
