She knows a lot of Muslims and the wrong one may have gotten to know her.... she was part of a Jewish-Muslim dialogue/roundtable type organization. Some guy who watched or listened to one of their broadcasts, and got obsessed with her. Either as a sexual interest, hate, or as a result of schizophrenia or drugs and may have had some paranoid episode.

One thing that can probably be ruled out is a random robbery ...not too many thieves would stick around to stab a person they don’t know 40 times.

You know what gun free zones are good for? “Answer”. Target rich environments. Don’t leave home without it and stay the hell. Out of gun free zones. You’re safer if everyone is carrying or you’re not sure who is. IMO
In this instance. The simplest solution is probably the correct one.
Lafayette Park is one of the safest neighborhoods in Detroit, and well patrolled. Almost definitely not a random crime or robbery/burglary gone wrong. She knew her killer. More likely to be a spurned love interest than a murder over the Israeli/Gaza conflict, but we shall see.
