A stabbing homicide like this is usually a crime of passion. And I think if your random muzzle did it, they would want it to be known.

She knows a lot of Muslims and the wrong one may have gotten to know her.... she was part of a Jewish-Muslim dialogue/roundtable type organization. Some guy who watched or listened to one of their broadcasts, and got obsessed with her. Either as a sexual interest, hate, or as a result of schizophrenia or drugs and may have had some paranoid episode.
Or could have been a really unfortunate Craig’s list meet up with a random nutjob.
One thing that can probably be ruled out is a random robbery ...not too many thieves would stick around to stab a person they don’t know 40 times.
