Paxton: Two Legislators Made Colony Ridge Possible
Texas Scoreboard ^ | 10/19/2023 | Michael Quinn Sullivan

Paxton: Two Legislators Made Colony Ridge Possible Attorney General Ken Paxton says Republican lawmakers Ernest Bailes and Robert Nichols are responsible for the creation of the illegal alien housing development.

Known nationally as a housing development for illegal aliens, Colony Ridge’s explosive expansion was made possible by a seemingly innocuous piece of legislation pushed quietly through the Texas Legislature in 2017.

As part of the current special session called by Gov. Greg Abbott, lawmakers are being asked to pass “Legislation concerning public safety, security, environmental quality, and property ownership in areas like the Colony Ridge development in Liberty County, Texas.”

Responding to inquiries from the state’s congressional delegation, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is laying blame for the “unmanageable” Colony Ridge at the feet of State Rep. Ernest Bailes (R–Shepherd) and State Sen. Robert Nichols (R–Jacksonville).

In the case of Colony Ridge, the development has sparked national outrage for reportedly advertising itself in Central and South America to individuals seeking to enter the country illegally. Under the authority of being a “municipal management district,” the real estate developers were allegedly able to leverage government bonds and other tools to finance their expansion. This, made it possible to offer “owner-financed” loans to people without legal authorization to be in the United States.

The district of U.S Rep. Brian Babin (R) includes Colony Ridge. He wrote an article detailing his ongoing concerns and frustrations with the development. “Various reports indicate that crime and violence have increased (including a cartel presence), wastewater contamination is flowing into bayous and drainage ditches, inadequate mitigation systems are causing widespread flooding, and an overwhelming burden now rests on existing infrastructure in the area – including schools, emergency services, roads, and more – and this is just a small glimpse into the state of affairs in Colony Ridge.”

I’ve been out there several times, and I am 100% convinced that the cartels put $$ into this. The size of the development is stunning, it’s huge.

The cartels undoubtedly supplied plenty of $$ to the politicians as well.

The only purpose of the American political class is to make themselves personally wealthy.

They sell out everyone and everything for their own gain.

It’s really hard to understand why so many think that Abbott is Presidential material.

He lets so many things go untouched because he thinks no one is looking or he’s way too indebted to the folks running the scams.

From the article:

The district of U.S Rep. Brian Babin (R) includes Colony Ridge. He wrote an article detailing his ongoing concerns and frustrations with the development. “Various reports indicate that crime and violence have increased (including a cartel presence), wastewater contamination is flowing into bayous and drainage ditches, inadequate mitigation systems are causing widespread flooding, and an overwhelming burden now rests on existing infrastructure in the area – including schools, emergency services, roads, and more – and this is just a small glimpse into the state of affairs in Colony Ridge.”

If this is what a politician is saying about the place, consider it exponentially worse on the inside. One can only imagine the amount of human/sexual/child trafficking going on inside that place. It’s what those from south of the border do.

It’ll be great to see these two state rep’s further exposed and potentially prosecuted. And more importantly, if they’re re-elected.

I’ve only seen videos. I do believe cartel money is involved.
I saw a YouTube video a week or so ago, by the developer, putting down complaints and showing how wonderful the Colony is. I needed my boots on to watch that BS!

It’s more like swampland/wetlands. Maybe they can find something like a snail darter or spotted owl that needs to be saved.

I don’t consider Abbott presidential material but I did vote for him again and support him as governor.

I think that’s the most important issue for you Texans with regards to your state government.

I’m on the outside looking in, I don’t see Abbott as being all that effective. Especially with what has been happening there over the last 2+ years.

But, then again, I don’t know of any state, that is Republican across the board that lives up to the campaign rhetoric of the politicians and actually does more for the people than for donors and special interests.

Brian Babin is late to the party. Would like to know how much money his campaign got from the developers.
