There's More to the DeSantis Airlift Story Than We Realized
PJ Media ^ | 17 October 2023 | Paula Bolyard

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis cut through the red tape to rescue Floridians stranded in Israel. What we didn’t know is that he’s also planning to pick up non-Floridian Americans, as well as those Joe Biden dumped in Greece.

“We knew there’d be people that wanted to get back, many hundreds, maybe even more than 1,000. And they were not getting any luck with the State Department or with the embassy. So I did an executive order last week, activating Florida emergency response to be able to bring planes in there and take people back home.”

“I had mothers that were stranded with three or four kids. I had one family with ten kids that they were trying to get back to Florida.”

He explained that the rescue flights were not limited to Floridians: “If there are people that are struggling to get to Georgia or New York or whatever, we’re all Americans, and we want to help people, but it is limited to Americans.”

[Snip]

So we have more flights coming. The next one will be [Tuesday] morning. We are taking people from Israel, but we’re also going to stop in Athens, Greece, to pick up people that the federal government may have stranded...”

“You can come across the southern border, and the federal government will fly you all across the country, free of charge. They’ll put you up in nice hotels at taxpayer expense. They’re not charging the illegal aliens.”

[Snip]

“We, of course, do have an interest in recovering the hostages that are American citizens… But ultimately, it’s Israel’s war. We should support them, but it’s not something we should get enmeshed in with our own ground troops.”

[Snip]

So, DeSantis is using taxpayer money for a publicity stunt? Is that what I’m getting?

What did Donald Trump do for the hundreds of Americans stuck in Israel?

He has not limited his help to just Jewish Americans who got stuck in Israel.

Of course, people like you refuse to acknowledge what Trump has done for all Americans.

Nice try, and it's no wonder that responsibility is 2nd for you

Question is, would DeSantis have done this if he were not running for President?

Good job Ron, but I'm still not supporting you, you Deep State Trojan horse.

Ron Desantis isn't my choice for President, and with that said, this is a hell of a great thing he's doing.

This is what leadership looks like. Good on him.

Yes.

Corey Mills is getting people out of Israel, into another nearby country, where they can get flights out from there, back to the U.S.

(earlier report)
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12620501/Florida-Republican-Cory-Mills-rescues-32-Americans-Israel-White-House-dithers-stranded-citizens-out.html

What gets a bigger bang for the buck?

Getting people out of Israel, to a nearby country where they can get flights out...

Or paying for planes to fly from israel to Florida where desantis meets them for a photo op, for $4 million for 300 people?

And gets the desantis supporters riled up and claiming desantis is some kind of hero for doing something (signing a piece of paper) to get people back to Florida...

and creates fuel for the fire for them to attack Trump with...

What is this alternative movement called besides Never Trumpism?
*************************************************
It’s called “We have to have a bold conservative candidate that can win the general election to stop the worst lawlessness and disorder in American history.”

So do you think Trump’s accusation that Rafael Cruz was involved in the asssination of JFK makes him any better than a liar? Or does it make him a liar and slanderer? Sounds like you can’t vote for Trump eithere based on your criteria.

I have doubts about your assertion. In fact it might be illegal for Trump as a private citizen to attempt a rescue op. I will admit l do not know the law I this

It has been done.

Do you know the story of Ross Perot and his successful rescue of hostages from Iran in 1979?

It happened in the Jimmy Carter era and was a totally civilian operation.

Ross Perot And The Iranian Hostage Rescue

That is the time Iranian militants took 66 Americans hostage and held most of them for 444 days, finally releasing them when Ronald Regan was elected President.

Ross Perot was a graduate of the US Naval Academy and a successful computer salesman.
He was a brilliant, action oriented man who went on to found his own company, Electronic Data Systems, known as EDS.
His company was very successful and made him a multi-multi-millionaire.
(One million 1978 dollars is equal to almost $5 million 2023 dollars today)

When the Iranian crisis came about in 1978-1979 EDS had about 130 employees in Iran carrying out work Iran had contracted the company to do.
Ross brought most them out of Iran when it became obvious serious trouble was brewing but left a few key people there to complete the work.

Iranian militants ousted the Shah, overthrew the government and declared Iran ro be an Islamic Republic.

They began taking Americans hostage including two of Perot's employees.
He tried to get them released through diplomatic channels and offered to pail bail or ransom but was unsuccessful.

So he pulled together a rescue team who infiltrated into Iran and were able to successfully get his employees out of Iran and returned to the USA.

It is an inspiring true life story of Americans at their best in the face of terror.

There is a book entitled "On The Wings Of Eagles" about the rescue and there was also a TV mini Series about it.

"On Wings of Eagles: The Inspiring True Story of One Man's Patriotic Spirit - and His Heroic Mission to Save His Countrymen"

I can’t believe these azzholes. I, as a Florida taxpayer, have no problem with my Governor authorizing 4 million of SURPLUS, that’s right, surplus that has been every year since he was elected as this great state’s governor, to bring home American citizens that have been ignored by our federal overseers from a perilous situation abroad. To use this as an opportunity to launch attacks on a candidate who is so far behind smacks of just plain unadulterated pettiness. Better to spend this in the black money on American’s safety than waste it on some bullshit like COVID relief money and plunge a nation further into the red. Get a grip, cultists.

Republican congressmen signed a letter to Obama’s State Department about Jon Hammar, if that’s the Marine you’re referring to. I can’t find who signed it, but I know some of the Florida reps. did. I would be surprised if a former Navy man wouldn’t sign a letter to help a former Marine, but that’s only my opinion. Since Hammar lived in Texas, I assume that his representative and Duncan Hunter, who led the lawmakers in trying to get Hammar released, would be the ones to contact him and his family.

Are you really going to hold DeSantis responsible for every thing you think he didn’t do? That seems over-the-top, but maybe that’s how you roll.

What power does Trump have? He has an airplane, money, international connections and adult children, some of whom are Jewish, who also have money and international connections. I would imagine they’re doing something to help. I can’t prove it either way, but I like to think the best of people.

One more time NautiNurse…..who is writing the checks?

Not the feral government led by Obama's sock puppet "Brain-Dead Brandon".

They have plenty of taxpayer money for 7 million illegals and to finance muzzi terrorists in Gaza but won't part with any to rescue American citizens.

Maybe if Brandon knew the stranded Americans were muslims he might spring for their rescue.

The DeSantis rescue cost a lot of money but what is an innocent life worth at a time like this?

If one of my family members was caught up in a muzzi Jihad I would be thrilled and extremely thankful to see them rushed to safety no matter what the cost.

“But he is terrible as a Presidential candidate.”

And that’s a big problem.
Good people who get things done aren’t considered good candidates ?
