Florida brings home nearly 300 Americans stranded in Israel

Within two days of announcing Florida would arrange transportation for Americans stranded in Israel and bring them to Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis welcomed home nearly 300 Sunday night.

We’re happy to be able to deliver and ready to welcome them back to the United States of America.”

Florida partnered with Project Dynamo to bring nearly 300 Americans home from Israel, including more than 270 to Tampa and seven to Orlando on Sunday.

“I am proud of how quickly we have been able to activate resources and do what the federal government could not – get Floridians and other Americans back home, reunited with their families, free of charge,” DeSantis said.

The support we are receiving from Governor DeSantis, the First Lady, FDEM Executive Director Kevin Guthrie, Florida Commerce Secretary Alex Kelly, FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass and his entire administration and the state is overwhelming. We are very grateful for the special flights and supplies.”

There are roughly 20,000 Americans, including many Floridians, who are stranded in Israel, according to some reports.

The U.S. State Department encouraged stranded Americans to book commercial flights while also recognizing that these flights were being canceled "due to mortar and rocket fire that may take place without warning."

It also encouraged Americans to arrange and pay for their own lodging. Any transportation out of Israel the federal government might be able to provide requires Americans to sign a promissory note prior to departure, according to a partial State Department emails posted on social media.

By contrast, the Florida government is providing free transportation to stranded Americans wanting to come home.

New York, governed by Hochul, doesn’t have the budget or the intestinal fortitude to bring home their residents from the war zone in Israel.

Is that because they are spending all their money on housing, food, medical, schooling and other services on the illegal criminal invaders coming across our wide open border?

New York has experienced a large exodus of its tax base as residents and businesses have left the state for more tax-friendly destinations.

"And you do?"

Well, to some extent, yes. I have at least met the man. I don't do lunch with him on a weekly basis, but I was able to speak with him during both his 2018 and 2022 successful campaigns. A more genuine fellow in politics is hard to find, and apparently millions of other folks feel the same, seeing as he won his last election in a landslide -- the only real 'red wave' that happened in 2022. He's the best governor Florida's had in my lifetime, and that's a while now.

Did it ever occur to you that most if not all of the neocons who state they support him merely use him as a foil against Trump? Seems like a working strategy, too, seeing as how you and a lot of other folks here have bought ruse that hook, line and sinker. Trump has had some troubling friends as well, but you also ignore that.

I understand that DeSantis is currently the Ultimate Evil, because he has decided to run against your idol. I wish he hadn't. They are both good men. I'm happy to pull the lever for Trump in 2024, just like I did in 2016 and 2020. For all the good that will do.

Trump isn’t in office, but he promised to pardon them when he’s reelected for the 3rd time. But back to Meatball. He won’t touch J6 because he’s owned by his Donors.

These flights were organized by the non-profit group Project Dynamo which went to Israel a week ago to plan the rescue operation. DeSantis’s role in the operation is unclear.

DeSantis has sold himself to the same big $ donors that have led the GOP by the nose since Reagan. I will never vote for DeSantis and neither will any Republican with a brain that isn’t making bank off of GOPe Surrender, Inc.

I think that myself and others that think as I do are the reason DeSantis is sinking like a rock. These days it sure sucks to be a DeSantiac.

Say hello to the Cheneys for me.

With all of the airports across the U.S.A., this flight landed in Tampa. Rather than reinvent the wheel, Governor DeSantis partnered with the established org. Project Dynamo, which has assets in place for the task.

What sort of clarity do you seek to reject Governor DeSantis keeping his pledge to bring home Florida residents from Israel?

Please set aside the brain-dead talking points for just a second and explain how a governor can pardon anyone convicted of federal crimes.

You won't because you can't.

Honestly, I could program a freaking Tickle Me Elmo doll to respond more authentically

What, specifically, do you expect Florida Governor DeSantis to undo with the J6 federal courts that President Trump could not do? Your logic is more twisted than a pretzel.

What kind of clarity would I like? I don’t know. Maybe an explanation of what role DeSantis actually played? DeSantis made his pledge 2-3 days ago. Project Dynamo had already been in Israel for 5 days contacting people and organizing flights. As near as I can tell, the only thing DeSantis did was pledge to reimburse Project Dynamo for the cost of bringing them back.

All desantis did was sign something that told other people to spend money and get something done.

This was another p.r. effort, that he piggy backed on to a real world event.

Congressman Corey Mills had gotten out something like 99 people out of Israel through arrangements he did himself, through contacts he knew there.

“We are actively trying to find out where they are,” Kirby told “Fox News Sunday” host Shannon Bream. “We don’t even know how many exactly. A small handful we know, but there could be more than we know. They could be in different groups. They could be moved around. I think you can understand. I hope everybody can understand – we’re gonna be careful about what we say publicly about our efforts to get those hostages home.”

Why go on a national broadcast to announce “We don’t know nothing”? Why not project strength and warn or at least hint of dire consequences to come?

Partnering with established resources to expedite the goal most efficiently is a bad thing. Got it, Bubbas.
