on October 9, 2023. (Miriam Alster/Flash90) The Defense Ministry says it has authorized the donations of thousands of items for personal protection to IDF soldiers.
The move comes amid complaints from many soldiers during the mobilization of more than 300,000 reservists that they lack proper equipment. There have been similar complaints from the standing army.
The ministry says it has approved offers to donate more than 50,000 ceramic vests, 20,000 helmets and tens of thousands of other items...

I’m really surprised at this. Being surrounded by enemies and suffering attacks on a regular basis, I would’ve expected Israel’s military to be outfitted properly and armed to the teeth. They’re quick to retaliate, no doubt, but still...I expected their armories to be well-stocked.
Right. And I was surprised Hamas was able to attack so easily on the border.
One would think there would be military security and armed citizens.
Complacency? Wishful thinking that terrorists were changing?
I would agree with calls for Bibis ouster after this.
Egypt warned them. It’s like a 1970s disaster film. Shark? What shark? I don’t see any dorsal fin. Oh, that shark that just ate somebody. Go get ‘im.

Passing along a suggested list of usable donations list in Post #5 :
An IDF reservist makes video suggestions of items that can be donated,
as well as items that should be included in a combat first aid kit :
duct tape, paracord, tourniquet with black marker (for time installed), liquid plaster instant glue (small cuts, wounds), gauze,
camel back (hydration), packets of electrolytes, protein bars (meal substitute), and leatherman with contained tools.
“Normalcy bias?”
Are they just asking LOCALLY for donations? I didn’t see any drop-points or address for donations.
Is there anything going on internationally, through TRUSTED organizations, to help send supplies?
Don’t know. My wife contributed 200 shekels care of a friend of hers who was collecting for a specific troop at the Lebanon border. I’ll ask her, but she’s asleep now.

In his Oct. 15 ‘Jewish History with Rabbi Dr. Dovid Katz’ podcast, the Rabbi related a story told to him.
A man in central Pennsylvania came into a gun store and began piling up various shooting and tactical accessories. The proprietor quizzed him on their intended use.
The man explained that his sister had converted to Judaism years ago and her son was headed to Israel as an IDF volunteer in this emergency situation.
The store proprietor offered the items for free. Other customers overheard, and volunteered to purchase body armor and a number of other items for the young man to take with him to Israel.
God bless the USA.
