Ukrainian officials reported intense combat, characterized by relentless assaults by Russian forces, as the ongoing attack on an eastern Ukrainian city of Avdiivka entered its fifth consecutive day Saturday.
"The enemy has not stopped either assaulting or shelling positions" around Avdiivka, city head Vitalii Barabash said on Ukrainian television.
Barabash also reported Moscow was deploying additional forces to encircle the strategically important city in the eastern Donetsk region, situated just north of the Moscow-held regional capital, also called Donetsk.

Now that the “west” is about to engage in their own battle in the Middle East, Putin thinks he has a window of opportunity.
A lot of Russian soldiers, armor, artillery, and trucks have ended up laying in the dirt. And at least one SU-25.

Marioupol, Soledar, Artymovsk (Bakmut)…rubble…...do realize Avidiivka is the strongest fortified city, the Ukies started fortifying it in 2014 when they started shelling Donetsk.
When they take Aviidivka, the shelling of Donetsk will cease, a huge victory.

This is a fortress city from which the Ukrainian neo-Nazis have spent the last 9 years shelling civilians in Donetsk. As such it will not be easily taken. But a couple days ago the Russians had “operationally” encircled the town, as evidenced by Ukrainian soldiers’ videos showing them being shelled on the last route into the town. I expect the Russians will take their time to encourage the Ukrainians to bleed in defense of the position, all the while trying to prevent any substantial retreat from the position.

That lie has been debunked many, many times.
Of course the Russians who claim to be protecting their fellow Russian speaking people in Ukraine killed tens of thousands of Russian speaking people in Mariupol and other cities, and then destroyed the cities.
Before then Russia is sacrificing thousands of its men so that sunflowers can grow better in the fields around Avdiivka.
You should be.
