Criticizing a rival might not seem very notable in a presidential campaign. But Donald J. Trump is no ordinary rival, and Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida has been wary of alienating the former president’s base.
----------------
Since the start of his presidential campaign, Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida has pulled his punches during speeches to voters, choosing not to attack the man leading him by 40 points in many national Republican primary polls.
But in recent stump speeches in California, South Carolina, Florida and Iowa, Mr. DeSantis has started attacking former President Donald J. Trump more directly, drawing laughter and applause from his audiences.
Previously, Mr. DeSantis had talked about Mr. Trump, who helped secure his political rise, only when prompted by questions from voters or during interviews with the news media. No longer.
Speaking to a crowd of several hundred people on Saturday at a packed coffee shop north of Des Moines, the Florida governor pointed out that Mr. Trump had gone back on his pledge to make Mexico pay for a border wall, after Mr. Trump suggested recently that it was an impossible promise to keep. Mr. DeSantis tried to draw a strong contrast with his rival, laying out a plan to fund the wall by imposing fees on remittances back to Mexico.

I thought Meatball was finally dropping out
Loser is right
It reminds me of those cartoons where the little dog runs around yapping and nipping at the big dog.
Single digit mental midget. Meatball can go to hell.
My sister has returned to the Trump fold.
This campaign is a bit of a sideshow, in that, Trump is virtually certain to be the nominee.
Yes, I know we are told polls are meaningless. We’ll know soon enough, as just a few months from now, actual Republican voters will be weighing in.
Historically, if candidates do poorly in early primaries and caucuses, they start dropping out. We’ll see.
Seems like a waste of money
Trump is ahead because Trump as POTUS has a good record of practical and workable domestic and foreign policies (remember the world with cheap gas, no inflation and no wars?). Trump is a fighter and not a phony with his own FU money.
Other than successfully governing a swing state and being awarded a Bronze Star……he is a loser.
Need to be a little careful making fun of patriots.
No. It’s not a new phase.
Desantis will certainly have a ticket out of Iowa. Things look good for Desantis,Haley and Trump. That will be the field after the first few primaries.
Recycling the old lies DeSantis tries to make them into relevant truths. He is his own worst enemy.

Deover is doing what? He done. His idiocy of giving poltical cover to Biden and the Democrat on inflation at the last debate ended his political career.
He can ask Liz Cheney what happens next when you play the idiot like this
“Amps Up” is that what they’re calling heel lifts these days.
I don’t think anybody’s even listening to him anymore.

A Bronze Star is not a combat medal. Even JAGs qualify to receive it. John Kerry served in the military, as did John McCain. Both are/were the opposite of patriots, so military service doesn’t always mean what you’re implying.
As far as being governor, Jeb Bush successfully governed Florida, and it was a lot more of a swing state then than it is now. Just to kind of get you up to speed, DeSantis has a Republican super-majority in his state legislature, and a conservative state supreme court.
