The race for House Speaker is dividing Senate Republicans, reflecting the broader division in the GOP between traditional and MAGA-aligned conservatives.
Many mainstream Republican senators are quietly rooting for the House to elect Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) over Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and for the transition to happen as quickly as possible to quell voters’ concerns about the Republican Party’s ability to govern.
Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.), the chairman of the Republican Study Committee, dropped out of the Speaker’s race Saturday.
Lawmakers who want Scalise to lead the House think he would have a better working relationship with Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and could do a better job of finessing must-pass bills through the House.

Sounds like Jordan would be the best choice. The GOP should elect him on Wednesday by unanimous consent.
Because they cannot get there own house in order they need to worry about what goes on in the House. Fix yourselves first you pantywaiste neocons. You've got the world in one helluva fix.
“must-pass bills” = submitting to Democrat demands
Good thing they don’t get a vote.
Bingo
“a better working relationship with Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)”
That should be the kiss of death for Scalise.
One thinks that the problem is becoming quite clear, for anyone who might be a little late to the party.
Hmmn, “Mitch McConnell” and “must pass Bills”.
I think we have our answer. LOL
Is one mistaken? One thought that the vote was supposed to be tomorrow, Tuesday.
Literally no one cares
The US Senate has no role at all in the US House. The US House has no reason at all to worry about what the US Senate or the White House want. There job is to represent their districts.
If the WH or Senate does not like what the US House passes, they can vote against it or veto it.
This Uniparty lie that the US House has to pass legislation acceptable to everyone needs to be ended. It merely a propaganda ploy where by the Uniparty gets what it wants and blames the US House for the consequences,
The Speaker Pro Tem fills in for the Speaker until a new one is elected. They have no need to be rushed into a quick vote. Better they take time and get it right
It is none of the Senate’s business what happens in the house. That is the whole object of the structure.
“Lawmakers who want Scalise to lead the House think he would have a better working relationship with Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell...”
Well, that certainly narrows down the choice in a hurry.
And, the Representatives can tell the Senators to mind their own business. In fact, this should offend the Representatives knowing the Senate regard them as step-and-fetch-it errand boys.
I can’t stand the Turtle. He only wants RINOs like himself around.
Israel doesn’t need any funding. Too much shrieking from some about needing. A house speaker real quick so we can pass $$$aid to Israel. The freaking world is falling apart because we don’t have a speaker.
What if Biden and Harris were unable to serve? Who would step up if Speaker is vacant. Temporary bow tie guy? Vote on it?
I prefer Scalise...Sometimes, Jordan is too noisy for me and it accomplishes little...just bluster sometimes.
No that’s not how it works...
“Many mainstream Republican senators”
That’s code for RINOs, GOPe, deep state, elites, establishment, turncoats, assistant democrats, traitors, back-stabbing, lying liars, swamp dwellers, debt junkies, crooks, thieves, scumbags, Marxists, republicrats, globalists, democrat lite, uniparty, the list goes on...
