How RFK Jr. independent presidential run would shake up 2024 race
The New York Post ^ | 10/08/2023 | Diana Glebova

Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. running as an independent would throw a wrench into the 2024 race, strategists tell The Post, predicting the descendant of one of America’s most famous families will take votes away from both major party nominees.

RFK Jr., 69, is expected to confirm his third-party bid on Monday, ditching his previous affiliation with the Democratic Party, where some polls put him as high as 20% in a national primary against President Biden.

Although an independent run would raise some complications for Kennedy — including having to get his name on the ballot in every state — the party change will end up as a boon for the environmental lawyer and anti-vaccine advocate, said South Carolina-based Republican strategist Dave Wilson.

For Democratic-leaning voters, Wilson said, Kennedy would provide an “alternative that they need” to the 80-year-old commander-in-chief. However, Wilson added, Kennedy’s persistent questioning of the COVID-19 vaccine could also peel off voters who would otherwise support the Republican front-runner, former President Donald Trump.

Surveys show a sizable chunk of voters appear to be dreading a Biden-Trump rematch, with an Oct. 4 Marquette Law School poll showing 16% of registered voters either would vote for someone else in that instance or not cast a ballot at all.

Kennedy “would probably pull a little bit from both parties,” agreed Republican strategist John Thomas, who predicted a Kennedy candidacy would draw more support from Biden’s support, given the enthusiasm of the 45th president’s “rock solid” base. ***

A three way presidential debate regarding COVID and the “vaccines” would be interesting.

There won’t be one. Biden will never show up.

The White House substitute dog got all his Covid jabs. There’s still a chance that America could get lucky and the pedo could die “suddenly” from heart failure.

“There will be no debates..RFK will only pull votes from Trump.”

There will be no debates...RFK will only pull votes from Biden.

See how easy it is to pull things straight out of your ass?

If you think that all democrats love what Biden is doing to the country, you are insane.

These democrats will vote for Trump or RFK. Biden is the one who is left out in the cold.

However, Biden will not be the democrat nominee, so whoever is will not run on the Biden record.

RFK will pull as much from the democrat as he would have Biden, and probably not so much from Trump.

“There will be no debates..RFK will only pull votes from Trump”.

WRONG! RFK, Jr. will pull many more votes from Biden (If he’s still around) than Trump.

You seem to think all Dems love Biden...WRONG again.

Get real.

RFK will only pull votes from Trump.

As much as you and gaggy would like that, it won't happen. There are tons of Dems who hate what biden is doing but still wouldn't vote for Trump. RFK will siphon those votes up.

Trump wins.

There will be no debates unless Kennedy polls Perot-like numbers. Perot was in the high 30s in the spring of 1992. Then he dropped out only to pop back in later. In the fall, his highest percentage was 20%. Kennedy would have to do at least as well as that in the polls — probably better.

Probably some blue collar voters will desert both candidates, but the real Trump haters in the suburbs will stick with Biden.

“G8ven the influence of the hardline anti-vaxer’s here I suspect significant defections.”

The hardline anti-vaxers do not form a sizeable group here. It was the fog of war when Trump had to deal with it and he was egregiously lied to. Remember his ordeal trying to make therapeutics available? When Biden got in, he canceled all of that.

Also, RFK is pro-abortion, so it is a wash.

‘RFK will siphon those votes up.’

nope; the dems have learned the lesson from 2016, when they thought two third partyers pulling just under 5 per cent of the total popular vote were of no concern because certainly Clinton could not lose to Trump...

of course they don’t all love Biden, but they all do hate Donald Trump...

Starting to think this RFK Jr. declaring as a 3rd party independent POTUS candidate thing is a giant head-fake that will never happen. Perhaps at the last minute the Dems will throw Kennedy some kind of suitable bone and the latter will call a halt to his (supposed) 3rd party POTUS candidacy plan.

I see your point, but these modern Dems are a nasty bunch. Once they see that R F K jr. can’t be bought, they’ll simply re-unite him with his dad....

Given the surprise attack on Israel, any RFKJr. ‘announcement’ is gonna get buried below the fold on page 10.

Re: "having to get his name on the ballot in every state"

Get real.

The only states that RFK is going to run in are toss up states that Trump might win...

Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

RFK is totally loyal to the Democrat Party.

And those everyday NPR swilling idiots are the ones who will go for RFK. No matter what their masters have learned from 2016.

Baris: RFK will top out at 20, be at around 9% when the election occurs. Nationally he will draw more from Rutabaga, but in key select D-heavy/Trump-leaning districts, he could take 1% and move Trump back “into the margin of fraud.”

Course that’s today. Wait til the Hoax News media exposes his whackadoodle, radical ideas. I think he may drop to about 5%.

I do know one Obama 1x, Trump 2x voter who would vote for RFK because of the vax and not cracking down hard enough on fascist antifa-—as if RFK would actually crack down on lefties.
