Yeah, the US has far more ‘eyes in the sky’ than Israel, so likely knew that something was up. But the Palestinians in Gaza are hard-core and it would not surprise me if they managed to keep it quiet regarding ground intelligence.

I don’t think so; look at their track record all the way back to WWII. Fortunately we had some great code breakers in WWII, along with our British cousins.
