Yeah, I don’t think expelling him is going to make him a nonentity like the establishment thinks. Any more than stealing the election from Trump was the last they heard of him.
Making someone a martyr is usually counterproductive, but if you “martyr” them without actually killing them, it’s even more counterproductive because they can come back to haunt you again and again and again.
“It’s true, it’s true!”
Lili Von Shtupp: “Tell me, Shotzi.....is it true what they say about your people?..... :)
Sorry. Just trying to bring a little levity to an otherwise shitty, political day. Have a good weekend everyone. ;)
It’s all very interesting. The infighting among the GOP is healthy and good for Democracy. The Democratic party almost always walk, work and vote in lock-step, with the media regurgitating the talking points and the bureaucrats and local politicians doing their part. It’s practically one party rule on the left, no serious dissent is aired publicly if any exists at all.
I agree.
Don't fret.
That event is just around the proverbial corner.
I think that’s right. If there is another economic collapse like 2008, these guys might be done.
The other thing is US military dominance is really starting to look suspect.
When the Ukrainians abandoned their NATO vehicles, abandoned NATO tactics and switched to attacking on foot and actually made more progress - that suggest to me that claims of Western military “superiority” is BS against a peer opponent.
Rules of the House of Representatives states that the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct can investigate allegations that a Member violated “any law, rule, regulation, or other standard of conduct applicable to the conduct of such Member ... in the performance of his duties or the discharge of his responsibilities”.
How did Gaetz do this?
That’s silly, it takes a 2/3 vote.
I saw an announcement Gaetz’s father running for something.. Can’t remember what, but thought he must want to give son some help on Washington.
Did any of you see this?
The calculation behind that CR was to put the "keep the wheels turning" pressure on the Senate, and then hopefully Biden, according to every "yes vote" Rep. I've heard speak to it.
The superior answer is to simply define legislation to get that majority support.
Sounds great, but is NOT "simple", except maybe to a simpleton. It likely loses many of the 18(? Some say 20+) Pubbie seats in districts that voted for Biden or have shifted left since then. Where would those seats be picked up?
Here on FR, how many opponents of aid to Ukraine argue to simply drop it out of the budget? Instead, the argument is often made to spend the $$ domestically. On forums like YouTube, that's much worse. Virtually no one supports cutting domestic spending, especially if it affects themselves. Even Gaetz is a porker, when it comes to his district. Sheesh.
It’s a political family back to at least granddad Jerry Gaetz.
Gaetz father, Don, was our State Senator and before that was our county School Superintendent. He was Senate majority leader when Matt was in the state House.......
What is Mr Gaetz planning on taking on?
