Yes, pass a clean budget, department by department, up or down vote. The department close if a No vote, move on to the next. It is call power of the purse and it is past time for the house to again exercise their constitutional authority.
Some resources would have to go to Ukraine if we want to bring the two sides to the negotating table. The question is whether you give funds in order to end the war or in order to keep it going. Nobody’s going to cut them off cold turkey and take the responsibility for what happens afterwards.
As tickled as I am at the prospect of President Trump being elected Speaker of the House, I fear that it might quickly develop into a "briar patch"-scenario.
The position of Speaker requires even more insider, Beltway political smarts and dirty wheeling-and-dealing to get the job done than the Presidency.
This might be a sneaky way of getting Trump into a "no-win" situation, to appear to fail, and thus to worsen his prospects of being re-elected.

As I posted earlier; Trump gets some Dem support by supporting continuing Ukraine aid to some level while insisting it be tied to full building of his version of border wall the entire border length. Discuss our national need for influx of legal immigrants vetted and selected at specific border points. Perhaps a new “Ellis Island” this time in Texas or New Mexico or Mississippi.
We solve the uncontrolled border and our demographic problem of low birthrate that defends social security. We don’t let Ukraine fail on our watch but don’t lavishly fund the corruption either.
We change tax policy to incentivize conservative higher birthrate numbers also.
All to install Trump as speaker as a springboard to his second term.
I was not denigrating President Trump's performance in office. It's just that those skills are not necessarily transferrable to the position of Speaker. And the Speaker has different duties and responsibilities. Back-room dealing - except from a position of undisputed power, e.g., as CEO of a company or as President of the nation - is/was not Trump's forte.
