Cash-Strapped Ron DeSantis Moving a Third of Campaign Staff to Iowa, Betting It All on Hawkeye State

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is betting his campaign on an all-or-nothing bid in Iowa, as he is moving a third of his campaign staff to the Hawkeye state while he has around $5 million in available primary funds in his war chest, according to a New York Times report.

The move marks a pivotal moment for DeSantis, as Iowa is the first Republican-voting state in the nation, and its caucus next January represents one of only a few opportunities to reverse narratives surrounding his campaign, given his collapse in the polls since the spring.

During that time, frontrunner former President Donald Trump has been indicted four times and coalesced a majority of support regularly reflected in national polls.

Staking it all on Iowa appears to be a daunting endeavor for the DeSantis campaign, considering Trump is above 49 percent of support in the RealClearPolitics (RCP) polling average of the Hawkeye State as of this writing and reached 51 percent in a CBS News poll conducted a few weeks ago.

DeSantis sits some 33 points behind Trump in Iowa in the RCP polling average with 16 percent of support, and he is significantly closer to the rest of the pack than he is to the 45th president.

“If he’s all in for Iowa, then why hasn’t Rob DeSanctimonious been in three weeks?” Trump senior adviser Jason Miller told the Times. “This isn’t something he can afford to do since he’s trailing by more than 30 points.”

DeSantis’s campaign is also low on cash, while Trump’s campaign outpaced his weakened rival in third-quarter fundraising at a three-to-one rate, according to the Times. Trump raked in $45.5 million in the third fundraising quarter to DeSantis’s $15 million, sources from the respective camps told the outlet.

The Florida governor

Trump campaign reports having $37M in the bank heading into the primaries. The cash on hand total — $36 million of which will be available for the GOP primary — is up from $22 million the Trump campaign had at the end of June.

Betting it all on a state that rarely chooses the eventual nominee.

As far as issues of importance, ethanol mandates don’t even make the top ten. Maybe when we drag ourselves out of this mess we can focus on ethanol mandates, but at the present, it’s hardly even worth talking about.

Meanwhile, Chunp’s lawyers are getting pretty rich on MAGA donations. For a billionaire, he sure seems to pinch a lot of pennies. He should be self-funding his campaign and his lawyers instead of raiding the wallets all of the poor schlubs already getting buried under this weight of this madman’s destruction.

I saw the reports yesterday — $50 million, not 15.

Provide a link or STHU.

Great point.

They’ve been spending $35million/mo.

The ineptitude here is unimaginable.

Cash-strapped? He just raised $50 million recently. You either believe anything Cult 45 tells you or you are totally unaware or you’re lying. One of the three.

You need to do a better job of keeping up with current events!

DeSantis campaign announces $15 million haul in third quarter but only $5 million is available for primary

“That’d obviously hurt him in Iowa, but win over many of the rest of us who have been grumbling about the ethanol mandates for years.”

That horse is out of the barn. You have two choices under the Biden reality: Send the money to Iowa farmers to produce corn for gasoline or send the money to foreign dictators who produce oil for gasoline. Which ones you prefer get the money?

“Trump has to spend it all on legal expenses.”

Do you pleasure yourself by saying that?

Yes, it is indeed a fact that the democrats are using the FBI, IRS and several other Federal agencies to manipulate the GOP Primaries with the goal of choosing who their guy should go up against and eliminate the anybody who could possibly beat Biden.

Desantis is no different than a FemiNazi who says nothing about biological men jumping in a wrestling match against a female.

I mean, I liked Desantis but for him to overlook the weaponizing of the FBI/IRS to alter the results of their opposition party’s nominee. To win like this is no less questionable than the Biden “victory” against Trump

He has to bet it all there. It’s the only place, due to the fact it’s caucuses and not ballot voting where you can get an outcome that is opposite the winds.

Pack the caucuses and you can win even if you don’t Really have high general support.

IA is the only place there is a remote possibility Trump
might not win in the primary race, and that’s because of the nature of caucuses not because he’s not supported in IA.

Your claims are just false. DeSantis has fought the woke invasion of women’s sports , entertainment, education, and other domains — and won. Trump has done nothing about them except attack DeSantis.

The Democrat/neocon/RINO alliance desperately wants Trump to be the nominee because they believe, rightly or wrongly, that he cannot win and will drag down Republicans downballot.

Kentucky is their latet evidence of that.

DeSantis, OTOH, has stood up to them at every turn. He has done thigns his donors didn’t like. He has taken on Disny and won. he has signed one of ht enation’s most restrictive abortion laws. Florida is one of the freest states and one of the best economies in America.

And the Republican House majority is due almost entirely to gains in Florida.

Yes, he did. That’s why I like him.

Trump attacks everybody. Man up. You’re starting to sound and act like many of Trump supporters. They’ve threw more republican voters off the Trump boat than there are votes to win a general.
