I found it here:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12589871/mexico-cartel-texas-invasion-border-war-todd-bensman.html

In looking at the map on the above site it appears the island which is a threat to Fenton, Texas, is outside the US border.

“For decades, neither the U.S. nor Mexico claimed Fronton Island as their own and that ambiguity provided the cartels – specifically the Gulf Cartel and Cartel del Noreste (CDN) – with an opportunity.”

None the less, right or wrong, isn’t that called an act of war?

An offensive is a military operation that seeks through an aggressive projection of armed forces to occupy or recapture territory, gain an objective or achieve some larger strategic, operational, or tactical goal. Another term for an offensive often used by the media is “invasion”, or the more general “attack”. The word occupy is important here as if neither the US or Mexico claims control of this island and it has a governing organization, then it is a sovereign nation.

A sovereign nation is a nation that has one centralized government that has the power to govern a specific geographic area. Under the definition set by international law, a sovereign nation has a defined territory with just one government. Their centralized government is the cartel. And the Texas Rangers are a state controlled organization and have no business going into the island. That should be the job of the feds. But they are passing the buck.

Neither the USA nor Mexico claimed the island.

But unlike most states Texas retained its sovereignty when it joined the Union.

Fenton Island is about to become part of the Free State of Texas.
