In the early dawn's orange glow, a Texas Rangers commander briefs a heavily armed invasion force.
They're preparing to seize a remote, 170-acre Mexican cartel-controlled island in the middle of the Rio Grande River overlooked by sniper nests and potentially booby-trapped.
Some of the dozens of assembled men shift from one foot to another or reposition their M-4 rifles as they listen to their commanders' instructions.
'Keep a close eye on those structures up there that have height advantage on us,' he warns.
'In case we do get engaged and someone is shot' medical evacuation plans are in place and there are blood bags if the wounded need a transfusion, he assures them.
Any questions?
This may seem like a scene from a far-flung warzone.
But it's just a glimpse of the hot war on America's southern border – a direct consequence of an out-of-control crisis that has resulted in nearly five million illegal migrants entering the United States since President Joe Biden was inaugurated in 2021

It’s only a question of time. Biden and his goons have NOT protected our country - they’ve open us up to evil.
I fear it is the truth. I first joined the National Guard in 1955 at the age of 16, and earned $2.00 a week and couldn't have been more proud to serve. Think that attitude exists today?
It does not. I have an ex-guard where I work. Once he got his girlfriend, it became to inconvenient. That and he was sent to the Texas border for several months.
Neither the USA nor Mexico claimed the island.
But unlike most states Texas retained its sovereignty when it joined the Union.
Fenton Island is about to become part of the Free State of Texas.
“Fenton Island is about to become part of the Free State of Texas.”
And it may, but hasn’t yet. And it isn’t new news.
“…170-acre Mexican cartel-controlled island in the middle of the Rio Grande River…”
It is illegal for any state law enforcement organization to step outside their and US borders, that is the federals job.
There is confusion if the island is controlled by the US or Mexico and historically neither has taken credit for it. And the island has been under the control of cartels for many years.
U.S. and Mexican military and law enforcement alike avoided the diplomatic risk of working on the other’s possible territory without requisite permission.

The mini islands have formed off the riverbanks in rural Starr County in deep South Texas, and have become a hiding place for drug smugglers and human traffickers, and even spots from where U.S. agents have been fired upon.
Note the date on that is over three years old.
Thus the rangers entered a sovereign reservation outside the US to control it by force. And that is an invasion.

And that is an invasion.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Good! And Now we have a part of the Free State of Texas not controlled by the federal government.
Texas can use Fenton Island as an independent base from which thay can control their border and the cartels.
Excellent strategy.
“Texas can use Fenton Island as an independent base from which thay can control their border and the cartels.”
Firstly, Fenton Island is in the northeast, near New Jersey. It’s Fronton Island in the Rio Grande.
“For decades, neither the U.S. nor Mexico claimed Fronton Island as their own and that ambiguity provided the cartels – specifically the Gulf Cartel and Cartel del Noreste (CDN) – with an opportunity.”
What you’re talking about here is annexation. Annexation usually involves the threat or use of force, which is what happened here, as the annexing State usually occupies the territory in question in order to assert its sovereignty over it. Annexation amounts to an act of aggression, forbidden by international law. Annexation or acquisition of territory by use of force or threat, is categorically prohibited under international law. It constitutes an act of aggression, a crime that falls under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, and poses a threat to international peace and security.
A much greater problem is that the feds saw it and let it happen without a single peep.
