DeSantis: I’ll Remove Accreditation from Schools that Have Gender Studies, DEI
Breitbart ^ | OCt. 4, 2023 | Ian Hanchett

Posted on 10/04/2023 10:19:31 PM PDT by chickenlips

On Wednesday’s “Hugh Hewitt Show,” 2024 presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) stated that he’ll reform the college accreditation system so “instead of you have to have gender studies, or you have to have DEI to get accredited, it’ll be the opposite. We’re not going to accredit you if you have DEI and some of these other things.”

Host Hugh Hewitt asked, “As president, what can you do about tenure from K-12 and in colleges that are state-funded?”

DeSantis responded, “Through the accreditation cartel. So, we’re going to totally blow up the accreditation cartel. Right now, part of the reason universities operate [the way] they are is because they need to get accredited. And these accreditors are all trying to create the types of universities that we object to as conservatives. So, we’re going to have alternative accreditors. It’s going to be, instead of you have to have gender studies, or you have to have DEI to get accredited, it’ll be the opposite. We’re not going to accredit you if you have DEI and some of these other things.”

After discussing the changes at New College of Florida, DeSantis added, “Another thing we’re going to do is we’re going to make the universities responsible for the loans. That’s going to cause them to change their behavior, because they’re not going to be able to go on ideological joyrides with their curriculum knowing that if somebody gets out of the university and they can’t afford to get by, that the university may end up being on the hook. So, you’re going to see much more focus in terms of the subjects that are going to be offered because of those incentives.”

I would love to see the universities responsible for student loans. They need some skin in the game.

He does have a point. The Unis are getting a free ride now. The more expensive they are the more loans their students get. They make big money while the students get stuck with the a decade or more of debt.

Good. It's a solid and very necessary step. It'll be subject to endless legal challenges, but it's better than rolling over and doing nothing while the leftists continue unopposed.

University endowments are obcene. And it’s not just Ivy League schools. University of Michigan and Texas A&M both have over $17 billion in their coffers. Just two of many examples.

"He does have a point. The Unis are getting a free ride now. The more expensive they are the more loans their students get."

De Santis is late to the show. Rush used to harp on that all the time on his radio show. He repeatedly pointed out that colleges were the main reason that student loans were out of sight, because they kept raising the tuition, knowing full well, that those students would have to borrow more money if they wanted to finish their degrees.

Didn’t Biden just executive order some kind of student debt amnesty yesterday?

Desantis, decades late to flap his gums about a problem (student loans).

Why has he asGovernor of FL not secured his state borders? Not contained all illegals in his state? Still allowing illegals intohis state? He has authority to stop it and yet has NOT. Heshifts responsibility to employers. He wastes tax payer money shipping illegals to other states there by likelyharming otherstates Citizens. And more repercussions... all because desantis isntdoing his job in FL yet wasting time trying to beat a dead horse campaign that HE CREATED.
Desantis: loser. Even losers have afew decent moments but when you look at desantis root (govt employed for decades never really had a job) he’s not good leader material, just a follower trying to play catch up.

See, DeSantis has the ability to do great things. He needs to stick to those things and practice politics for a while.

Just like AZ and TX, they tried to block the border and got overruled by the courts.
The only solution was to ship them to other states.
Ron was the FIRST to start shipping illegals north.
He was also the first to fight back against the Gay Mafia.

Sounds like a leader to me.

Which a Court previously ready ruled illegal. The Courts must really get sick of having to say the same thing over and and over and over to the children in the Biden regime

DeSantis is the lead on many conservative issues amongst the 50 governors.
Bring Rush back and he has my vote.

If you actually believe what you wrote you need to stop with the meth. Because only someone on mind altering drugs can say something that stupid.

DeSantis has taken more steps than anyone to make Florida unattractive to illegals.

He's the best governor here in Florida in the near sixty years I've been here. Hopefully he can inspire other conservative governors. I sometimes suspect that those who attack him here on FreeRepublic have very different motives than merely ostensibly supporting Trump.
