Is Matt Gaetz a hero or a villain?
The camera-loving Republican from Florida who threatened to shut down the government and who masterminded the ousting of Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday has made more than a few enemies in Congress.
He doesn’t care; he represents a district in Florida that hasn’t gone Democrat in decades and that went for former President Trump in 2020 by 68% to 29%. That means that in 2018, for instance, election gurus gave him 99% odds of being reelected, even though his approval rating was a dismal 20% -- worse than Joe Biden.

There was a clip of “The Five” my wife and I clicked on YOUTUBE last night. First the judge, then Greg Gutfeld and then the liberal woman ALL denounced Gaetz.

We turned it off about half way through and both agreed this is why we stopped watching Fox News and cut cable TV too.

I’m just hoping that Gaetz has a plan moving forward. “The dog catching the car, now what?” mentality has to end.

McCarthy had a tough job.
No doubt but could have done a better job.
No success anywhere due to apparent working with the enemy.
As to plan and vision. Yours is no better than mine and time will tell.
As people see that there are some honest and courageous legislators on the right, people who risk personal attacks for taking a stand, people that put the lie to the fable that Congress works for America/Americans, the American people rather than seeing children see the birth of a rebellion against the corrupt elites that are feeding on America.
There are not many American that are going to support the current regime over increased accountability and nothing good was coming out of McCarthy’s speakership.
Why do we scream at each other? This is what it sounds like when RINOs cry.

I would usually agree but congress is so corrupt and the national situation so bad and existential that we are in a ‘we have to burn the village down to save it’ phase.

Matt Gaetz did not expect to win because of the real chance the left would support McCarthy because he gave them everything they wanted. He did not conference with the left or promise them anything as did McCarthy.
Matt Gaetz spoke out against treachery after giving McCarthy notice & time to keep his promises. 8 Republicans followed their consciences rather than self interest and risked their jobs and reprisals to enforce accountability, inform the American people and in hopes of a speaker who would pursue America’s priorities vigorously.
He is not responsible for Dems choices and the Dems may come to regret those choices. Frankly it is hard to imagine a worse Speaker than McCarthy when measured by the results of his term.

He went against the vast majority of his caucus and accused the Speaker of the House of plotting against him without offering proof.
I suspect that he may well have been conspired against, by the Democrats. McCarthy, for his part, agreed to let the threshold for vacating his seat be one member. Reportedly, that was at the behest of Nancy Pelosi (when the Freedom Caucus raised the issue). Reportedly, she said she would “have his back.” Of course she didn’t.
What it boils down to is that I think both McCarthy and Gaetz were played by the Democrats. If I am right, then I think we need to choose our representatives more carefully than we have.
Oh I get it. It’s a trick question. Because St. McCarthy was just so wonderful and wise.
