He's not really seeking media or attention that is simply a symptom of what he managed to do.

McCarthy was widely known as an unscrupulous hack, a man without any principles whatsoever. In other words a perfect Swamp creature in the District of Corruption.
Any supporter of McCarthy is an enemy of representative government and the MAGA movement.

It sounds to me like both McCarthy and Gaetz are naive. McCarthy, if he trusted Nancy Pelosi by listening to her about giving in to the Freedom Caucus demand that only one person would be needed for a motion to vacate. Gaetz for believing that McCarthy was out to get him rather than the Dems. Naivety is not what we need.
A good next move by the RNC would be to focus strongly on campaign training and volunteer recruitment, if McCarthy is no longer going to be doing all that fundraising.

Pro-McCarthy cannot make an argument for him so resorts to irrelevant personal attack.
Yes. They snark with, “okay, Gaetz caught the car....what’s he gonna do now?”
The problem with that line of thinking is that it wasn’t just ‘chasing a car’ - it was STOPPING a runaway car that was doing plenty of damage to this country. You don’t have to have the entire plan of Speakership mapped out and locked up to stop a disaster to stop that, IMO.

I don't know either. The thin majority the republicans have means McCarthy only needed to isolate Gaetz in the party. The fact that he couldn't turn 7 other republicans to his side indicates he thought the democrats were going back him and he likely made a side promise on something that he would not negotiate on.
In the worst case we will get another go along Speaker passing whatever continuing resolution the democrats want. But why not take the small chance that we get someone who is willing to fight on at least border security perhaps?
I don't get the lock step of the talk show hosts on this. They used to all sound off that the republicans need to use the "power of the purse" to reign in the democrats and Biden. I certainly never saw anything that resembled that from McCarthy. Now that McCarthy is actually gone those same "power of the purse" types are saying that ability never really existed and McCarthy was doing the best he could.
I don't get it either.
I do get Free Republic posters though. We have become fractionated into neocons, never trumpets and MAGA (with some leftist plants mixed into that). We are not the Free Republic of 10 years ago. Still I don't know of a better site that keeps me up on current events, so I live with it.

So you are in agreement with AOC, The Squad and 202 lefty Dems congressman who voted him out, 95% of all Dem congressman voted with these 8 . And what is the first priority McHenry does Ukraine? Budget, not kicking Nancy out of an office.
We just played right into the lefty hands and will now lose the House and Presidency because the Dems will play this as the do nothing congress. I campaigned and donated $s for Trump in 2016 and 2020, and will vote for him but will save my $s and time.
I tend to agree with his quotes, if they reported them correctly.
