Congressman Troy Nehls (R-TX) has thrown a curveball into the already tumultuous race for Speaker of the House. Taking to Twitter, Nehls announced that he will nominate former President Donald J. Trump for Speaker of the House.
This bombshell comes on the heels of a historic 216-210 vote to remove Kevin McCarthy from the Speaker’s chair, marking the first time in U.S. history that a Speaker has been ousted mid-term.
On Tuesday, the House of Representatives voted 216-210 to remove McCarthy, making him the shortest-serving Speaker since 1876.

That’s not going to happen. And for a variety of reasons.
It will be fun to see this play out. President Trump is a bit busy right now..
Prediction...soon we see an article telling how she got to keep it anyways. I hope I’m wrong.
YES!!
What fun that would be!
This is going to be an embarrassment for Trump and the party.
He would get 11 votes.
That’s not going to happen. And for a variety of reasons.
Who the hell is floating this INCREDIBLY STUPID IDEA?
Trump! Go Trump!
I bet he is now thinking… wait a minute, if I am Speaker of the House won’t the House pay my legal bills?….
Go for it! pass the first budget since 2009! Defund the criminals at the FBI! Pass a bill enabling citizen’s arrest at the federal level! Finish the wall!
And then in 2024 leave to become President!
There is so much power concentrated in that office. We will see what Trump decides to do.
Amen…
Without a speaker the critters will not be running off to the Ukraine.
The way out of this unprecedented cluster___ is not Trump, however emotionally appealing that may be. The job requires a wizard parliamentarian, which he is not.
If he could be Speaker of the House, plus name himself as his own Vice President, and thus head of the Senate, then when he is elected President, Trump would unite the entire government.
I’d love to see it happen, but it’s highly unlikely. The only chance I see an unconventional candidate being elected, whether Trump or someone else, is if voting drags on for weeks, with no resolution in sight.
You said it!!!
The Speaker of the House is second in line for presidential succession. With the 25th Amendment waiting to be applied to the two nano-IQ duds ahead of him, it's indeed a "best choice"!!
Rinos will vote with dems. Never going to happen. Nice gesture though.
My friends think of how much pressure he can put on members as a populist. The members are scared of their voters when the light is on them.
Third in line for the presidency.
A few months ago my business partner and I said Trump should be speaker. At least Troy Nehls agreed with us.
I dont think it will happen.
But if it did and Trump got the presidency, it wouldnt count as a 2nd term for him, because its more than halfway through Bidens term.
But its not gonna happen.
Do it now!
