BREAKING: Kevin McCarthy Removed As Speaker
Townhall ^ | 10/23 | Spencer Brown

Posted on 10/03/2023 1:56:35 PM PDT by spirited irish

Now-former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was stripped of his gavel on Tuesday afternoon via roll-call vote on Rep. Matt Gaetz's (R-FL) motion to vacate the chair, pursuant to rules agreed to by McCarthy in order to clinch victory in his drawn-out race to become speaker in January.

By a vote of 216 to 210, the historic motion prevailed as presiding Rep. Steve Womack (R-AR) declared "the resolution is adopted...the office of Speaker of the House of the United States House of Representatives is hereby declared vacant."

The Republicans joining Gaetz in his motion to vacate were Reps. Biggs (AZ), Buck (CO), Burchett (TN), Crane (AZ), Good (VA), Mace (SC), Rosendale (MT

Newt stabbed Gaetz in the back TODAY by calling for his ouster. Good riddance to Newt and McCrappy and every other deep stater out to destroy us

IMO, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that McCarthy gets reelected, as ridiculous as that sounds.

There was an episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show (bear with me) where Mary is moved to management, and fires the odious, incompetent, buffoonish, blowhard, TV News anchorman, Ted Baxter.

But Mary quickly finds that having an odious, incompetent, buffoonish, blowhard, as the TV station's anchorman, is better than not having an anchorman at all, and has to give Ted his job back.

You might regret supporting her on this. Gaetz has a plan, McCarthy was a RINO. Something had to give.

Officially, there was called a Recess, for the party caucuses to begin and until further notice, according to the interim Speaker’s closing statement after the vote.

“I am trying to make sense of it all but maybe there is no logic to it.”

Let me help you. McCarthy made promises to HIS Conference that he did not
keep back in January.
Like getting back to regular order.
We have had 25 years of CR’s and Omnibus Bills.
He had plenty of time to pass separate bills. He broke his promises.

The vote was a good way to separate the chaff from the wheat, least on the Republican side.

I, for one, am sick of the cozying up for an “I love Ukraine” love fest by our side.

I don't think it was completely thought through by the Dems. I think they look at it as a chance to sow discord and weaken the GOP. They may also think that the next leader may be less competent. Which could be true. Or the next leader will be unsteady, because of McCarthy's fate.

McCarthy was bad, and it's good he is removed, but it could end up worse from conservatives. We don't know what the end fallout will be.

“Another question for the paid media influencer defenders of rino Inc.

Please explain how representatives get into office making a couple hundred thousand, and in a few years are multi millionaires. “

+1 000 000

I’m still waiting for an answer to what actual action (not talk or hearings) the Repubs in the majority took ?

The only “gain” is the GOPe Swampers are Committee Chairman and get to enrich themselves even faster.

I doubt Trump could get the votes

Don’t think he would want to take the pay cut :-)

Trump is a pragmatist.

Is he a pragmatist. He seems to be doing more to get himself prosecuted than the prosecutor. I thought almost everyone knows to shut up and do what your lawyer says. And to get the best lawyer can afford.

Has McCarthy ever explained why he didn’t release all the j6 vids? Did he ever explain why the 87000 irs agents are still on deck?

Gaetz wants to run for Governor in 2026 after DeSantis is done with his 2nd term, I don’t see how this helps him.

Gaetz was right that Omnibus budget bills are the tool spendthrift Democrats have used to expand government spending for years.

McCarthy has been reluctant to force the issue of individual spending bills.

The Republic can’t go on with Two Trillion dollar deficits for much longer.

McCarthy either had to take action or be replaced with someone who would.
