Now-former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was stripped of his gavel on Tuesday afternoon via roll-call vote on Rep. Matt Gaetz's (R-FL) motion to vacate the chair, pursuant to rules agreed to by McCarthy in order to clinch victory in his drawn-out race to become speaker in January.
By a vote of 216 to 210, the historic motion prevailed as presiding Rep. Steve Womack (R-AR) declared "the resolution is adopted...the office of Speaker of the House of the United States House of Representatives is hereby declared vacant."
The Republicans joining Gaetz in his motion to vacate were Reps. Biggs (AZ), Buck (CO), Burchett (TN), Crane (AZ), Good (VA), Mace (SC), Rosendale (MT

I’m noticing a lot of Meatball Supporters here were Supporting McCarthy too.
Yes, I noticed many of the desantis supporters have become more and more vocal as supporters of mccarthy and the uniparty, and attacking Gaetz over the past weeks
First, RINOs are not friends of conservatives and hence McCarthy definitely wasn't one of my own kind. Second, if you're political strategies rely on gaining press approval then I don't know what to say except that doesnt seem like a good way to save America.
Bingo for Donald
“Indeed! Long term planning has gotten us into this mess! “
Give us the Senate, the House and the White House and we’ll give you a five year plan!
He did.

“ Bring it on.” wrote McCarthy yesterday.
The usual suspects are out in force on FR condemning the removal of McCarthy. Funny how those positions tend overlap (not pointing at any one poster, just talking in general) with other positions such as opposition to President Trump, fear of government “shutdowns”, strong support for big financial and military assistance for Ukraine…. at some point this kind of consistency evidences an ideology. The question becomes: what is that ideology, what are the alternative ways of looking at the world, and what combination of these represents “real” conservatism and which are RINO-ism.
Personally, I am glad to see Frank Luntz’s roomie kicked to the curb. What does this accomplish? At a minimum, it will make the next warm body put in the Speaker’s chair fearful of leading in directions objectionable to the most conservative (again, a definition issue…). To the people ruffled by the absence of a clear plan, I would ask where did they think the House was headed under McCarthy’s leadership? To me, the answer is obvious: an overriding fear of being blamed for shutdowns (which BTW is the House’s only real leverage) leaading to years more of governance by Continuing Resolutions. So I say good riddance.
Thank you Matt Gaetz, Ken Buck, Andy Biggs, Tim Burchett, Eli Crane, Bob Good, Nancy Mace, and Matt Rosendale.
God bless and protect you all and all of your loved ones. Amen.
Exactly, now what….
Well let’s see. No one that from the Freedom Caucasus can win… so some other establishment R becomes the speaker most likely
This is a clown show
Check out Bannon. Episode 3072, Part 1. WarRoom this afternoon Live.
Steve warns tonight when you see FOX let the Establishment whine, to remember what Matt Gaetz said on the floor of the US House, in that clip above, as he handed back an epic rebuttal to the LA representative Graves, who mushed up with the Democrats to pass this CR.
Gaetz simplified the facts.. We are at war, from within.
yes because logically the argument being presented here does not make sense.
For Dems he is the best speaker they can hope to get out of the GOP so why not keep him? Not sure that chaos for the sake of chaos works for Dems here. They may have seriously miscalculated.
I am trying to make sense of it all but maybe there is no logic to it.
You mean go along to get along? Where has that gotten us after four decades.?
It’s not a legitimate government since the steal.
It’s a constitutional crisis.
If I remember my Civic classes correctly the Speaker of the House does NOT have to be a member of Congress. They should pick President Trump to be speaker. ( LOL)
Great point—and good to keep front and center.
I think Gaetz did something never been done before: fired a government employee who failed to perform.
That’s landmark.
It’s getting more and more obvious with the collapse of desantis, that the desantis supporters are
actually nevertrumpers
and supporters of mccarthy and the agenda of the swamp GOPe uniparty rinos
and even supported a dem winning the next election, so Gaets is no re-elected to get rid of him.
Chip Roy would make a fun Speaker.
“But, boy…he is digging his time in front of the cameras.”
Somehow or other, that line got going and some people think it is so brilliant.
He is the main player here, so what do you expect him to do? Go run and hide?
