Last week the Wall Street Journal published an unsigned op-ed unworthy of one of the best teams of commentators in the country. The subject was some comments Donald Trump made on Truth Social that, by surprise, displayed his trademark turbo-charged hyperbole. The Journal is usually a reliable source of sober, judicious, and fact-based analysis, but this editorial is a troubling portent that Republican Trump-Derangement Syndrome hysteria may have a negative impact on next year’s election.
Trump’s heinous sin, according to the editors, is saying “that Gen. Mark Milley, the nation’s highest military officer, deserves execution—as in death. He said NBC should be investigated for treason and that the FBI should raid the homes of Senate Democrats. Then he accused President Biden of being manipulated by ‘the Fascists in the White House.’”
Now listen to what Trump actually said about Milley as quoted by the Journal: “‘This guy turned out to be a Woke train wreck who, if the Fake News reporting is correct, was actually dealing with China to give them a heads up on the thinking of the President of the United States. This is an act so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH! [emphasis added].’” That’s more nuanced than saying Milley “deserves execution.”
Read carefully, one wonders why the editorial would provide its own refutation. Take “Woke train wreck.” Has the Journal forgotten that in testimony before the House Armed Services Committee, Milley argued for bringing critical race theory propaganda into the military academies and the armed forces’ training programs?
Is that not “woke”? ........(con't at link).

The Wall Street Journal editorial page turned liberal when PBS “conservative” Paul Gigot took over after Robert Bartley died.
It became all amnesty, all the time.
So naturally the editorial page is against Trump.
Journalists talking about other journalists is a waste of time.
Sounds like the WSJ is engaging in the very hyperbole that they accuse Trump of doing.
It’s also infected FR and is all over the place here as well.
The WSJ has been crap for years now
Just say it
“Sounds like the WSJ is engaging in the very hyperbole that they accuse Trump of doing.”
Like other “journalists” they jump on every allegation against Trump and condemn him before any evidence has been provided. When the allegation is proven wrong, they don’t bother to apologize or even recognize what they have done, but just wait until the next allegation and then they do the same again. The opinion writers have been correct more often than the news reporters, but once again, the WSJ never recognizes that fact. And recently, they have been putting leftist opinion pieces on the front page “news” section as if their opinions have been proven.
Even with the “Russian collusion Clinton created conspiracy”, they had a couple of paragraphs of “our bad” on just one day and then proceeded after that with acting and reporting as if the allegations were true.
It’s so frustrating to see in a formerly reputable paper.
What, the rag that demanded “a five-word constitutional amendment, ‘There shall be open borders’” four decades ago is infected with TDS? Who knew?
How was it reputable?
They were demanding that open borders (a communistic tenet) be put into the Constitution about four decades ago.
Trump Derangement Syndrome is synonymous with our current Russian Derangement Syndrome, both invented by the Demoncrats.
the stupid criminal gang operating the control in the USA have backed themselves into a corner-both domestically and abroad.
there’s not an out that doesn’t involve a super-depression at this point...and in the absence of a second Trump administration, a probable nuclear WW that these idiots will next stumble into
No it's not and it hasn't been for a long long time. It's now become a center/left paper by neocons, for neocons.
Superficially, the logic of the Journal and the Chamber of Commerce types is to the effect that population growth is the surest way to increase GDP and service the country’s massive debt load. Underneath that is the more sinister logic that those with wealth — meaning the owners of the WSJ and most of its readers — are best served by low wages, which is most readily accomplished by massive immigration. From that, hatred of Trump and control of immigration and fury at his success follow.
What will be the attitude of communism to existing nationalities?Hence, the WSJ is a communistic publication.
The nationalities of the peoples associating themselves in accordance with the principle of community will be compelled to mingle with each other as a result of this association and thereby to dissolve themselves, just as the various estate and class distinctions must disappear through the abolition of their basis, private property.
— The Principles of Communism, point 22
To be precise, functionally and ideologically, on immigration, the Journal favors importing anyone and everyone — including communists — and selling them the rope to hang us all — with the proviso that conservative must die on the hill if necessary fighting to keep taxes on rope selling low.
The WSJ is a Murdoch enterprise. Been leaning left for a number of years now.
For shame Wall Street Journal! What that General committed treason. Editorial staff are a bunch of commies!
“The Journal is usually a reliable source of sober, judicious, and fact-based analysis,”

That’s funny, because that was 16 years ago. Since 2007, when Rupert Murdoch bought parent company Dow Jones, they’ve been steadily moving to the Left and away from business/market to being dedicated to global Leftist neopagan politics.
