Tim Wakefield, one of the masters of the knuckleball pitch who won two World Series titles with the Boston Red Sox, has died. He was 57.
it was revealed earlier in the week Wakefield was battling brain cancer.
"Our hearts are broken with the loss of Tim Wakefield," the Red Sox said on Sunday.

The Seattle Mariners were eliminated from post season play yesterday. George Kirby, their starting pitcher today, opened the game with a first pitch knuckleball in Wakefield’s honor. This pleased the gods of the baseball diamond, who granted the Mariners a 1-0 win.
