Upstate NY county blocks NYC’s bid to move homeless north to ease migrant shelter crisis

An upstate county is blocking New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ bid to shunt Big Apple homeless residents north, calling the move yet another flagrant attempt to shift the migrant crisis elsewhere.

The Democratic mayor announced last week that city housing vouchers for the homeless could now be used outside of the five boroughs — to open shelter space for the wave of migrants flooding into the city from the country’s southern border.

But Republican Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente fired back with an emergency order saying no voucher would be accepted on his turf without his say-so — and then only after needy locals get first dibs at any open slots, according to a report by the Oneida Daily Dispatch.

“This is just a veiled attempt by Mayor Adams to pass New York City’s migrant crisis on to upstate counties,” Picente said. “This action is due to the complete failure of federal government policy and lack of leadership in Albany.”

Upstate counties have already been pushing back hard against Adams’ earlier attempts to relocate asylum seekers by busing them to other areas of New York.

I wonder how the illegals fared during the floods, the other day.

Thanks for the Ping. Saw this thread earlier. I live in Oneida County, but don’t know anything about Republican County Executive Anthony Picente, except that he’s running for a 5th term, and that he’s served the longest of any previous County Executives. Here’s hoping he’ll stick to his guns, and won’t roll over like most other Republicans.

“migrants flooding into the city from the country’s southern border.”

Eagle Pass, Texas would like a word with Adams. 11k per week.

A permanent tent city to house dependent, unproductive populations.

Not true. They produce Democrat votes.

In NY and other states the Dem vote pattern shows heavy Dem vote totals in cities but then reasonable people who vote the other side are more prevalent the farther out of town one gets. Civilization and good sense, too.

The Old farmer’s almanac is predicting a very nasty winter even in the south.

It brought on flashbacks of the wade across the Rio Grande.

I have a hard time fathoming [pun intended] why the illegals think NYC is the place to go. What in their upbringing made them think living in a crowded concrete jungle would be preferable to where they came from?

Especially if they’re home owners.

NYS cost shares Medicaid with counties.

Then why does NYC now have RCV, hmmm?

NYS’s elections aren’t free and fair, either.

I don’t think they have a choice.

There is a reason why the regime/globalists want these MILITARY AGED MEN in NYC, Ch!tcago, LA, etc.

They’re sent where they’re ‘wanted’ ... given smart phones loaded with their Free Stuff, put up in free housing...no need to work....so, the real question is why is all of the above happening?

Their smartphones will give them every directive, their go signal.

Maybe Wednesday at 2:20pm EDT will be the first test of the system.
