Graham Says Ousting McCarthy Would Be A ‘Disaster For the Future of the Republican Party’

Sen. Lindsay Graham, R-S.C., said he thinks ousting House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., would be a "disaster for the future of the Republican party" in an interview with CBS' "Face the Nation" on Sunday.
"Kevin is the right guy at the right time," McCarthy said. "The only way he loses his job is if a handful of Republicans join up with Democrats to fire him."
Graham's comments came as Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., said he would move to oust McCarthy from his leadership position as early as this week after the California Republican worked with Democrats to gain the votes necessary to pass a stopgap funding bill and avoid a government shutdown. Gaetz has threatened the procedural motion for weeks.

Getting rid of McCarthy would set up an untenable situation which the House would have to deal with (otherwise nothing at all gets done, including swearing in the next bunch). If the GOP is so fractured that it cannot vote anyone in on their own, they will need Democrats. More than likely that means Gaetz and others will be locked out entirely. He would be a bomb thrower “a pox on all your houses!” type, and maybe the next Florida governor, if Floridians are fool enough to elect him.
The House would slide Left, and McCarthy would be shamed.
