The death of Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Thursday night has left California Gov. Gavin Newsom with the job of appointing a replacement to serve the remaining 15 months of her term — a choice he hoped never to have to make.
Newsom initially promised in 2021 to pick a black woman to replace Feinstein if she was unable to remain in the Senate through January 2025. That was in response to the outcry from some quarters after he appointed then-California Secretary of State Alex Padilla to replace Sen. Kamala Harris after her election as vice president.
After Feinstein announced earlier this year that she would not run for another term, three prominent House Democratic lawmakers — Reps. Adam Schiff, Katie Porter and Barbara Lee — rushed to take her place, setting up a bitter and expensive primary fight.

Are you crazy? Newsom is the governor, why would he want to become Senator? Governor is a better platform for president. In fact, I would say if he appointed himself Senator, it would be a sign he is not running for president.
Voters hate this, by the way. Of the none governors who has themselves appointed Senator, only one was reelected.

Please tell me you don’t believe the democrats follow the requirements for candidacy (Obama, Harris, on the presidential tickets to name two).
Why would he do that?
They are Asian.
He’ll appoint Commie-La, to make room for him as VPOTUS (and potential shoo-in for himself as POTUS).
If I may be so crass, they have a lot of black in them and represent. It’s just humor. Or an attempt.
The best thing for the Democrats would be to give Kamala Harris the vacant Senate seat. She’s been a complete failure as VP, and they really need to push her out of the way for 2024.
But that would be a painful and humiliating demotion for the lovely Kamala. I don’t see how they could convince her to go with it.
Rid himself of all responsibilities. Retire young.

They follow requirements, but maybe not the Constitutional ones. It has to be someone who already made their bones in the Democrat Party. If he actually tried to name Markle, or some other celebrity, bloody murder would be screamed.
The problem he now has is trying to find a black woman he can appoint who can be blackmailed into stepping down so he can appoint himself to that senate seat after his failed bid for the presidency inevitably happens.
You know he is coveting what would be a virtual life time senate seat not affected by term limits.
Yeah replace a 90 year old woman with a 77 year old woman simply because she is black.

Newsom will have a press conference where he will announce that he now self-identifies as a Black Woman...............
