Not me, it’s called Tribalism and it applies to ANYONE who thinks they’re in an oppressed group, which is why Trump loaded up his Administration with White Men. Even Justice Thomas slipped into it once (that I can remember), but thankfully very rare in his case.

The offensive sentence is that AFTER THEY WERE EMANCIPATED some freedmen were able to use the skills they gained as slaves to their advantage.
Notice that this not what is said by Kamala Harris or by Tim Scott. They are saying that Florida teaches that SLAVES benefited from skills learned as slaves, when what is taught is that FREEDMEN benefited from skills learned as slaves.
BTW FREEMEN refers to persons born free, and FREEDMEN to persons born slave who one way or another gained their freedom.

Robert Fogel and Stanley Engerman won a Nobel Prize in Economics for their book Time on the Cross which is a two-volume series. Vol 1 was the narrative and Vol 2 was the statistics and research that resulted in their conclusions. One of their conclusions was that slaves, in economic terms, were better off before the Civil War than after it. Considerable work was done assessing food, shelter, clothing, health care, and general social environment.
