Big Mac, fries and a Coke. $19.95 with Senior Discount.
I wonder why fast food places don’t make the order takers remotely located in low wage areas. We have the technology. they take your order at the drive through an audio device or a voice capable kiosk inside the store, and electronically send it to the local store, fewer employees needed in the actual store location.
“For years, the simple white sandwich bread—store brand—at Wal-Mart was 84 cents.
Last week was $1.38”
Yep. And for years, low and middle-income parents have used that inexpensive bread to make peanut butter/jelly, chicken salad, or bologna sandwiches for their children as a quick Saturday lunch, school lunch, or after-school snack. The cost for the purchase of all the items to make those quick and inexpensive snacks has almost doubled since Briben-Biden was installed in the White House. As have the sides of an apple, orange, or a bag of chips to go with them.
I heard a remark today stating that during the Great Depression, the cost of a home was three times the national average salary. Today, the cost of a home is eight times the national average salary. I still say the recession will be so short-lived that people will barely notice it. For we will immediately move into a economic depression.
I was stunned today. I had a hunger for a Spring Creek BBQ sandwich.
$14.00 plus tax. Taste like cremated bull. Tastes nothing like Red Bryans back in the 60s.
Now we can be unemployed and collect benefits! Hooray!
Oh, no! You can’t scare me,
I’m stickin’ to the union!...
Strikes are precursors of lock outs
They will have to update the drive through speakers.
Why would a family of 4 spend $50-60 for the what passes for food at McDonalds when they are all ready bitching now they cannot pay for groceries?
Depends where you are at in CA.
You got that right.
Yep. They will either install more self-service kiosks or increase their prices. Expect to see them raise the price of a $10 meal (burger/fries/beverage) to $15+.
No big deal for me since I don’t eat that crap. But the ghetto crowd will be pissed. Dey jus gotz ta haz dem chickin nuggets.
“They’re already using them where I live. Or at least McDonald’s.”
Pretty much universal now. I like them, more flexibility and you can see prices on customized items. They had been in Europe for years, but then seemed to pop up everywhere about after the informal minimum wage became $15/hour.
At this point, no doubt, McDonalds is working night and day to further reduce their staffing...and if they do as well as they’re doing with their kiosks and their app, they may well end up being the only place where the non-rich can eat.
Amen. I seldom go to ff places. My wife asked for a Wendy’s salad a few weeks back. I went and got her a salad and me a burger combo and it came to over $20!! I can get real food at the local TinRoofCafe for not much more. Ridiculous.
I’d like a 10-289 burger, and a side of fries.
Where do I get in line for a $30 Big Mac?
Demolition man predicted it. “Now all restaurants are Taco Bell.”
say hello to more robots ... say hello to far fewer fast food restaurants (not a bad thing, except for unskilled workers)
What starts in CA May spread, so I hope the layoffs happen fast enough to save the fast food jobs elsewhere. CA used to be the leading edge, it has become a cautionary tale.
