No candidate for U.S. President has won in a landslide (60 or near 60 percent of the vote since 1984). No candidate for U.S. President has won in a landslide to their first term of office since FDR in 1932. So your first point is well taken. I, too, don’t expect a landslide next year.
How about your second point? The odds are pretty close to 50-50 that Trump, the Republican candidate, will be elected. Maybe higher.
Well, I suppose I take your second point to be that the Republican platform is like Reagan’s platform. But, if you mean something more literal, running on the issues of 1980, 44 years ago, would you name one winning candidate in the U.S. history who ran on the issues of 44 years prior?
