The agreement includes a royal clause that dates back to 1692 in Britain and would extend its term limit for decades.

This “Declaration shall continue in effect until 21 years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III, King of England, living as of the date of this declaration,” the document said. This kind of clause is most often used in the U.K., typically when it comes to trusts, and provides a buffer against perpetuities.

It’s news. Not breaking news, but news that I searched for and finding nothing, thought worth posting and having some discussion.

What’s ‘old’ news? Like a new-used car, this is new-used news.

“The State of Florida is sovereign, it is the king”

It is not, and we are lucky for it. Courts have ruled since the days of the Founding Fathers that the government must honor any contracts it signs.

That is one of the essential principles defending our freedoms.

So a democrat bureaucrat gifted Disney thousands of extremely valuable land at taxpayer expense by sneakily unilaterally inserting a clause asserting some privilege of the King of England with approval of the legislature or the citizens? Seriously?

We all are noticing by now the interchangeability between the MSM and the Bee.

“Disney trying to declare itself a sovereign country.”

Well, they do call it the “Magic Kingdom”.

Isn’t that insurrection? Where’s the DOJ?

No, not even close.

The arms of Washington, District of Columbia are derived from the personal arms of George Washington, which date to 1592 or earlier.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_the_Washington_family

The are plenty of city-states in the world, but you definition is faulty.

The City of London, is a unique local government area in Greater London created under British law

Washington, DC is a federal district under US law, administered by a government created by the Congress

The Vatican City state is an independent state created by a treaty with Italy.

Of course under this loose definition you are using, Singapore, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Hamburg, St.Louis, San Francisco, and every city in Virginia all qualify as “City States”.
