The former Fox News anchorman accused Joe Biden and his officials of trying to "subvert a democracy" by preventing him from speaking with the Russian dictator.
Tucker Carlson claimed the US Government stopped him from interviewing Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The former Fox News presenter did not clarify which branch of the Government allegedly intervened to halt his planning.
Carlson claimed he received no support after his attempt to speak with Putin collapsed but said the alleged incident was an example of an attempt to "subvert a democracy" by controlling the press.
Speaking to the Swiss magazine Die Weltwoche, he said: "I tried to interview Vladimir Putin, and the US Government stopped me.
"By the way, nobody defended me. I don't think there was anybody in the news media who said, 'Wait a second. I may not like this guy, but he has a right to interview anyone he wants, and we have a right to hear what Putin says.'
"You're not allowed to hear Putin's voice. Because why? There was no vote on it. No one asked me. I'm 54 years old. I've paid my taxes and followed the law."
Top Russian propagandist Margarita Simonyan suggested in August that Carlson had contacted the Kremlin to set up a chat with Putin but the presenter only now acknowledged his request.
Carlson has emerged as an unexpected pawn in Putin's propaganda strategy, with Simonyan praising him for his "great job" in questioning Joe Biden's hard stance toward Russia since the start of the invasion of Ukraine.
He claimed US governments over the years repeatedly tried to take over what information was available to the population to secure a stronger hold over voters.
Carlson continued: "If you want to subvert a democracy, you need to control the information that citizens receive.
Now he has to explain exactly how he was stopped from interviewing a world leader.
Carlson has never been a news anchor, nor has he claimed to be one.
“Now he has to explain exactly how he was stopped from interviewing a world leader.”
Yes.
* Passport revoked?
* Pulled forcibly off a jet plane?
* Threatened with tax audits?
* 4 AM SWAT Raid that killed his dog?
* A polite letter asking him to not do it?
* Threatened his career at Fox? — Oh, wait...
Putin is more American then Biden.
Like the 40 Benghazi witnesses who never came forward. Didn’t happen.
Any article that refers to Putin as a “dictator” is suspect in my opinion. Unlike Xi in China, Putin was elected by popular vote in a free and open election, and thus not a dictator.
Based upon recent events here in the USA after the 2020 election, the USA is more representative of a fascist society and/or dictatorship than Russia. The current US Administration is hunting down, prosecuting and imprisoning peaceful protestors that it disagrees with as well as prosecuting its opponent for questioning the election results. This is what fascists and dictators do.
Of course they stopped it. They don’t want 200 million people listen to Putin tell truths.
Well, it has been PROVEN that Biden's thugs have been influencing all sorts of media, proven.
I read that comment as well. He said: “I tried to interview Vladimir Putin, and the US government stopped me. So, think about that for a minute.” Well, we ARE thinking about that and want to know specifically HOW they stopped you.
I can see the Zeepers clapping for this like the Canadian parliament clapped for the Nazi...
No bias there. /s
I would love to see 2 lawmakers debate that point (tacitly agree).
I’d buy tickets to see the exchange.
That’s right, he was a talk show host.
That’s correct.
What are you referring to?
Now he has to explain exactly how he was stopped from interviewing a world leader.

I read it had to do with getting travel documents, caused by State Depart obstruction.
That’s because he is a Christian, and Russia is a Christian nation.
