Democrats Are on a Winning Streak That Could Transform Our Politics
The Nation ^ | 9/22/2023 | By John Nichols

In the past few days, Democrats have secured majority control of the Pennsylvania House and moved within one seat of ending Republican control of the New Hampshire House. Those wins are not aberrations. They are the latest measures of a nationwide blue wave that has seen Democrats outperform expectations in 24 of 30 special elections for open state legislative seats this year. Legislative contests that were once considered local or regional races are being nationalized, as concerns about abortion rights and voting rights—two issues that are up for grabs in statehouses—are putting Republican candidates in a perilous position.

The numbers back up Williams’s assessment. On average, according to a fresh assessment by the data crunchers at FiveThirtyEight, Democrats are finishing 11 points better than the historic voting patterns of their districts would have predicted. That doesn’t mean that they are winning every race; sometimes, they are merely closing the gap in heavily Republican districts. But in other cases, Democrats are flipping Republican seats and raising the prospect that they will take control of legislative chambers that are currently controlled by the GOP.

You're not going to get the votes from the ladies with that approach.

I think you are right about the 19th, and I think most women are unsuitable to make rational decisions in politics.

If it were me, I would simply make the requirement to be a taxpayer, and we don't care what sex you are. This should weed out most of the worst.

I was told when I was young that cheaters never prosper.

You’re right trump didn’t get 74 million votes. What a cheater.

I do not know if you are joking or what. Biden didn't get 81 million real votes, but Trump did get 74 million real votes.

He probably got a lot more than that.

The only women who are capable of making rational decisions in politics are usually married women. They seem to have strong influence from their husbands (and their fathers?). Also, they are members of a close-knit social circle (a church? Or the local school their students attend?)

It’s likely that Gavin Newsom is our next President.

Because we've done nothing to solve the vote fraud problem in the swing states, I think you are very likely correct.

I hope Trump has a plan to stop vote fraud in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, Georgia and Nevada.

I think they made it easy to vote by filling out a piece of paper.

They made it so easy that imaginary people could vote, illegals could vote, crazy people could vote, senile people in nursing homes could vote, dogs and cats and dead people could also vote.

Vote by mail should be absolutely forbidden except in the special circumstances such as the law required prior to the Covid bullsh*t.

There is no chain of custody in vote by mail, and no proof that the person voting is a legal voter.

Unless the GOP state legislatures FIX voting and elections, they will never be in the majority again.

“cheaters never prosper”

These days the cheaters are dancing in the streets while setting fire to our money.

But the timing was bad, and then people came out of the woodwork to push draconian over the top legislation on the topic? Now that was dumb.

Bingo, we just won a great victory leaving this to the states to decide because the federal constitution does not address the issue. Immediately the likes of Linda Gram and other assorted idiots in the GOP starting pushing for a FEDERAL BAN on abortion negating the entire legal premise of our argument.

They did this deliberately and have never been on our side.

All the Republican politicians should watch his old tapes and learn how to emulate his style.

They can try, but a lot of that was natural talent. You have to be born with it.

Reagan made me fell proud to be an American, especially after the bad taste left in my mouth by that embarrassing idiot Jimmy Carter.

Not just typical Lefty women. Think affluent suburban woman who generally support Conservative fiscal policies but rank baby killing as their number one political issue.

They’ll tolerate run amok inflation for the sake of abortion and gender issues.

That is what I have learned from studying the matter. Married women have to manage a family, and you can't be making foolish decisions when you have responsibilities.

It's all those bubble headed single women making the dumb decisions.

If you’re stealing elections then you need to gaslight everyone into thinking you’re not and that it’s because of ‘issues’.

That’s what this stinks of.

Ronald Reagan was an actor. So he had a lot of training. That was why he was prepared to become President.

Another example. Zelensky was an actor. You can tell that he's different than the previous Ukrainian Presidents.

When that idiot announced his support for this federal ban idea, I immediately thought he cannot be that stupid. He's doing this on purpose to screw the elections.

Nobody who's got any reasonable experience in politics would be that stupid. This was intentional.
