i remember he pointed the pistol at kyle and pulled the trigger but the safety was on and he backed away like he surrendered and then when he flipped the safety and threatened a second time, kyle shot him...
that was cool.

Absolutely.
The only reason that you're still alive is that you were shot point blank by Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse reacted instinctively and addressed the threat immediately. Had he had more time, he would have made a much more accurate shot and ended your experience then and there.
