Well to be fair, once you pull the ejection handle you have more things on your mind than where the plane is going.

What we should be talking about is the $1.7 trillion spend on the F-35 program and why so many are grounded.

Confidence in the military is plummeting rapidly. It would helpful if the whole truth were told about this incident. However the truth is never told in these stories and “journalists” have absolutely no interest in really learning anything. The rot is pervasive and it stinks.

'If the jet is stable in level flight, the jet will attempt to stay there. If it was in an established climb or descent, the jet will maintain a 1G state in that climb or descent until commanded to do something else,' the Marine Corps said in a statement. 'This is designed to save our pilots if they are incapacitated or lose situational awareness.'
Does it need a human pilot or can autopilot give the command to "do something else?" Because a 1G descent or a 1G climb run out of air eventually, in different ways.

Some 13 y.o. hacked into the plane and flew it around a bit from his living room PS5.

I’m of the opinion the plane was hacked. The hacker ejected the pilot and who knows what the intentions were for the plane. The story is so full of spin, it will be a long time before we know the truth…if ever.

Was the recording from the time of the incident, or was it made later to fit whatever story they’re trying to come up with?

I would be absolutely frantic that the plane was going to crash into some of the population. Not that there’s anything anyone can do to stop it.
I was going to say that this is the most bizarre story I’ve heard....but after the last few years, it’s pretty run-of-the-mill.

I’m guessing the malfunction was the idiot “flying” it.
No concern for civillians just jump out and save its own ass.

Never, ever believe anything initially reported in the media regarding military aircraft mishaps, they always get the majority of the facts wrong and intentionally sensationalize it.
I don’t know what happened here but I can guarantee that what you’re reading is 90% BS.
I’m a former Marine F/A-18 pilot and the above has been true in every mishap I’ve seen. Wait for the accident report, then we’ll know what really happened.
