INDIANAPOLIS (WXIN) – An Indianapolis woman is accused of stabbing a baby inside a hotel while attempting to stab a dog for eating her chicken sandwich.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday at a Days Inn in the city’s Castleton neighborhood.
IMPD said they found a 1-year-old girl stabbed in the neck. A short time later, police found the suspect hiding near a bush outside the hotel.
Police arrested the girl’s 32-year-old aunt, Sharon Key, on allegations of criminal recklessness.
According to police reports, the suspect tearfully said the stabbing was an accident.
Police said Key told them the family went to Burger King to pick up food and then returned to the hotel.
Key claimed her pit bull ate her chicken sandwich, according to court records, so she got angry and chased the dog around the room with a knife.
When the dog jumped on the bed where the child was lying down, Key said she tried to stab the dog but missed and stabbed her niece by mistake.
After the stabbing, the child’s mother, who was also in the hotel room, quickly called 911.
“It’s stupid, and at the same time, she’s a grown-up,” said Tracy Griffin, the baby’s grandfather. “She should have known that baby was sitting right there. I want the book thrown at her.”
Griffin said his granddaughter is expected to survive her injuries. She was taken to Riley Children’s Hospital and received several stitches to her ear and neck.
“I want her to be accountable for this,” said Griffin. “My granddaughter will be scarred for the rest of her life.”
Jail records show Key has been in and out of jail more than 20 times over the last decade.

Who would leave a baby with a person like that, and her pit bull?
Do NOT mess with Aunt Sharon’s chicken!
Must have been one of those Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich. People have been killed for one of them.
Just chasing a pit bull with a knife around a hotel room because it ate your chicken sandwich. On the surface, that sounds like a good alibi.
Here’s an example of why a 20 strikes and your euthanized policy should be implemented.
Put her down for the attempt on the dog.
Red hair and plenty of pounds wagging around.
Life’s bitch at times, like it or not.
Easy. Any fool who would own a pit bull in the first place.
The mother was in the room and made the 911 call.
Well, it is much safer to stab the baby than the pit bull.
20 times, in jail, she, obviously, has impulse control issues.
Somebody nicked her sammich and somebody has to pay.
She looks like she takes her grub seriously.
Yikes! She must really like sandwiches.
Dog was probably starving in the welfare hotel room.
An understandable error. I often confuse my grandchildren with my dogs! /s
I wonder if Sharon Key is registered to vote.
I’m sure she’s not conscientious enough to register herself and certainly not conscientious enough to show up at the polling station to place her vote on election day.
Yet, I suspect she’s both registered to vote and ballots have been submitted on her behalf, by someone, and all vote solid Democrat — especially for any Democrat who receives funding from a Soros “charity.”
no need to look

Fer crying out loud, it was an accident. I mean, who hasn’t chased their dog around the house in an attempt to stab it with a knife?
This is just one of many reasons why I don’t go to Indianapolis.
