This "democracy" will go the way ALL democracy eventually do. According to Lord Tytler, a Scottish Historian, the average age of the world's democracies is around 200 years. After two hundred years, the nations collapse due to various economic policies and be followed by a dictatorship. Lord Tytler identified "Eight Stages of a Democracy", from beginning to end.

The eight stages go from bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence, and finally from dependence back to bondage... Reginald Pulliam

And we're currently approaching the next to the last stage right now. Too bad most Americans are too dumbed down to know about these "stages" of our demise. And if they knew, would they even care?

That is true. Also, every once powerful kingdom began to deteriorate over time for various reasons and eventually met their demise. Similar example is children of a successful person more often than not do not repeat the success of their parent. I think complacency is a natural by-product of success.
