The pilot who ejected from a $100 million F-35 fighter jet claimed to have lost the plane in the weather — and likely bailed out before he could activate its tracking system, sources and experts said.
“He’s unsure of where his plane crashed, said he just lost it in the weather,” a voice can be heard saying of the pilot on a Charleston County Emergency Medical Services call posted Tuesday by a meteorologist.
The unidentified pilot landed in a North Charleston residential neighborhood and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
He has since been discharged.
Military officials have not yet released a specific reason for the pilot’s hasty exit, only referring to the incident as stemming from a “malfunction.”

The Pilot was an AA HIRE!
you’re getting warm :P
BINGO!!!!
The weather there was not particularly bad, and so the notion that this was weather-related for one craft but not the other flying "buddy" says the statement was made to statisfy the press.
Possible lightning strike during a thunderstorm might account for the plane going down.
Sobering how easy it was then (and still is!) to think “Oh, our military and our modern military procurement weapons will never fail. “It just needs to shoot down a red-painted, unarmed propeller drone flying over the middle of the LA Basin! “
Was this base one of the CCP invaded military location that our Chinese Puppet
President and Madame Mao wife allowed .
Recall the Cadaver and his Madame Mao Adulteress Jill allowed the Chinese Spy balloon go right over this base .
Sounds like he could give a Banshee a run for their money.
“The Pilot was an AA HIRE!”
Aren’t they all these days? Normal whites need not apply.
Cause it was the big one on the left, and the plane isn’t allowed to go right because if it does the white supremacy indicator light glows orange.
I’m fairly certain these aircraft can fly above any bad weather. Something is missing in this story.
Sounds like plane lost due to pilot malfunction, and he couldn’t even come up with a decent story.
“We are not getting the full story here.”
Does anyone ever? An interesting article from NBC brings into thought a couple of possibilities.
“”I don’t fault a pilot for bailing out of an aircraft if that’s the right course of action,” Grazier said, adding that the military will want to know if it was done out of mechanical or software failure, pilot error or something else.”
That something else:
“The F-35B has an auto-eject function,” he said. “I’m curious to know if it ejected him involuntarily.”
As for where it went:
“F-35s are equipped with transponders that allow the aircraft to be tracked. But military officials initially said the transponder did not appear to be working but were unsure why.”

Back in the day when slide-rule engineers said, “Whatever. We’ll make sure it lands safely without your Sad Sack ‘pilot.’”
Not weather. Climate change! They can’t fire you for that.
Not a pip from our supposed two Gop senators .
Gee , diversity hires shut them up.
Grahnesty pushed Obama Gen White Hater Austin thru .
Trump just loves Gramnesty .
Affirmative.
“ The tracking part of the story is a minor secondary, the big question is why the pilot ejected.
One suspects that there might be much more to the story.”

Oh, I’m sure. The pilot could have suffered John McCain syndrome (i.e., lost situational awareness/lack of attention) and combine that with a bit of panic he/she punched out of what was likely a perfectly functioning aircraft. I suspect it unlikely that this current pilot has an active duty four star as a father as McCain did.
Story gets weird. Weather? Unless that thing came apart, the pilot should still be attached to it. If weather is bad enough for an airplane then that parachute ain’t going to make it.
This sounds so far like a made up story.
