While lawmakers on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. debate sending billions more in military aid to Ukraine, an American citizen journalist, Gonzalo Lira, is languishing in a Ukrainian prison on allegations of spreading Russian propaganda, throwing into question the status of free speech in the supposed democracy the Biden administration argues is worthy of more taxpayer dollars.
The Biden administration is asking Congress to approve another $24 billion for Ukraine for now through the end of this year, which would add to the $113 billion that Congress has committed to the country since its war with Russia began in February of last year.
President Biden on Tuesday at the United Nations argued that investment in Ukraine was an investment in “the future of every country that seeks a world governed by basic rules.”
However, the administration has been much less vocal about Ukraine potentially violating the rights of an American journalist who is currently detained in Ukraine for his reporting; and in a speech at the U.N. almost entirely devoted to Ukraine, the status of Gonzalo Lira was not mentioned once by Biden.

Yes, he’s a funny guy I wouldn’t have over for dinner, but he stayed in Ukraine while making his posts and stayed, even after they picked him up and threatened him a couple of times.

So far 8 million more since Biden regime, on top of 30 million already here, we are completely overrun in Texas. Not a single English speaker in any Walmart. The schools are barely functioning with all the illegal alien children. There are no used cars to buy because 8 million illegal alien military service aged men need transportation. Drug trade and crime are skyrocketing and Cartels are moving into every racket imaginable, and corrupting the police as they do. This is literally deadly serious. It is not a political social debate anymore. It is a life and death emergency.

Lira was arrested because he returned to Ukraine. He had to leave first (try to follow the logic here). The reason Lira was arrested the first time was he was caught spying for Russia. He made a plea deal, gave up several Russian agents, then self deported.
For the past year while he was claiming he was in Kharkiv, he was actually in the Netherlands and other countries. He was faking reporting from Ukraine the entire time. The fact that so many fell for this or don't care says nothing good about his audience, or all the big name pro-Russian YouTubers that worked with him.
When he returned, he was caught arrested, claimed he was tortured then released and announced he was escaping to Hungary before he was arrested again. Even Scott Ritter called BS on his arrest and torture story.
The destruction of United States of America is unfolding in front of our eyes on live TV every day. How many million unskilled, welfare dependent, unvetted for diseases, illegal migrants can the country absorb before collapse? Without secure borders we have no country.
Most of the illegals are young men of military age. Buy extra protection. The illegals will spread to every town within a year or two. They do not obey laws.
You don’t need ANY money to close the southern border, at least to the degree the Trump administration managed to, which was pretty good in context. This is entirely a matter of policy.
OK, maybe another 5 billion for the wall.
But this is not an argument over money. You have political opponents who want the border open. Whatever happens in Ukraine won’t affect that. You can zero out Ukraine spending and get nowhere. You need to beat your domestic political opponents, comprehensively.

If you support Russia in the US, then you are protected by free speech, the US is not legally a party to the conflict.
Supporting Russia while in the Ukraine, when it is fighting a war against a Russian invasion, is literally providing aid and comfort to the enemy.
If he were Ukrainian he would be a traitor. Instead he is just an enemy sympathizer. The Ukrainians were right to jail the idiot. They would have been within their rights to shoot him as a spy if he was feeding the Russians info.
