The United States is engaging in diplomatic outreach after Azerbaijan launched "anti-terrorist activities" in the Nagorno-Karabakh region on Tuesday, U.S. officials said, adding that the incident was particularly dangerous.
A senior U.S. State Department official said U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken was likely to get involved in the next 24 hours in the diplomatic engagement already under way on the tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Blinken discussed the situation and stated the need for de-escalation, Interfax reported, citing the Armenian government.
Azerbaijan launched military action in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, a step that could presage a new war in the volatile area but which Baku said was necessary to restore constitutional order and drive out Armenian military formations.

Aremenia has one of the strongest lobbying groups in the US, is aligned with Russia.
Azerbaijan, which is muslim nation and a pain in everyone’s rear, is aligned with the US because the US wants a presence in the eastern Black Sea on the border with Iran.
Iran is supporting Aremenia, because they have a lot of ethnic Azerbaijan people who don’t want to be part of Iran.
I not sure who the Turks are supporting.
In short, this is a ethnic fight going back to the early AD. Good luck.
This is a long-simmering dispute between Moslem Azerbaijan (supported by Turkey) and predominantly Christian Armenia (supported by Russia) over the Nagorno-Karabakh region that sits between the two, but is part of Azerbaijan. Nagorno-Karabakh has a predominantly Armenian Christian population. The total population of the region is about 150,000. The region declared independence from Azerbaijan under the name Artsakh.
So, the similarities between that on-again/off-again conflict and the conflict in Ukraine are evident.
