The FAA model for an "average" traveler is 180 lbs. They do weight and balance calculations on the basis. When flying out of Pocatello on the Embraer turbo props, the number of passengers is smaller and the weight and balance more volatile. It was common to move "big" customers forward to get the "balance" right before flight. The whale authoring this article is clearly not anywhere close to the average FAA passenger. As of this morning, I'm 156 lbs, 5 ft 11 in. No problem fitting on any commercial aircraft. I do object strenuously to having a 300 to 400 lb passenger planted next to me is oozing over the tops of the arm rests. Totally unacceptable. Pay for two seats if you want to get on a standard aircraft.
