It’s the second best ending.
The best one would have required the morgue, not the hospital.
It would have been happier if the perp didn’t make it
He’s still alive, so, every silver lining has a touch of grey.
Happy ending but....
Sadly, this is out future. We have to be always on guard, ever vigilant, and ready to defend your life and home all the time because the legal system no longer stops criminals, no longer supports policing, no longer prosecutes, plays catch and release, etc all while trying to criminalize the good guy just trying to live his life.
