Union boss Weingarten thinks you’re a racist if you want good schools for your kids

Want to have some ability to choose where your child goes to school?

Well, then you’re a racist.

So says Randi Weingarten, leader of the American Federation of Teachers.

Words like “school choice” or “parental rights,” she maintains, are the “same kinds of words” used by segregationists, so if you use them too, you’re one of them.

Predictably, Weingarten is now furiously backpedaling, claiming that she was just making an innocent comment about “language” rather than actually accusing anyone of being racist, but this isn’t the first time she’s beat this drum.

In 2017, she called school-choice programs the “only slightly more polite cousins of segregation.”

Nor is she the only teachers-union leader to make this claim.

The head of Chicago’s teachers union has written that “school choice was actually the choice of racists.”

It’s a very curious argument. In New York City, it is minority families who are most eagerly engaging in school choice: 28% of black families choose to send their children to charter schools and 14% of Hispanic families do so.

As I keep saying: School Choice is a winning issue for the GOP. A great many people are upset with government schools and would like a little more freedom to make their own choices.

But, the GOP wouldn’t want to piss off the Teachers Unions. Might lose their votes, ya know.

Can’t even get one sentence in. Who gives a damn if “Randi Weingarden” thinks they are a racist? She can pound sand in the traditional meaning of it.

Weingarten's statement is inflammatory and divisive. It is wrong to paint all people who support school choice as racists.

There are many reasons why people might want good schools for their kids, including a desire to provide them with the best possible education.

School choice can be a way to improve educational outcomes for all students, regardless of their race.

Opposing syllogisms:

Proposition 1: It is wrong to label people as racist based on their support for a particular policy.

Proposition 2: Weingarten's statement labels people who support school choice as racist.

Conclusion: Therefore, Weingarten's statement is wrong.

Proposition 1: School choice can be a way to improve educational outcomes for all students, regardless of their race.

Proposition 2: Weingarten's statement discourages people from supporting school choice.

Conclusion: Therefore, Weingarten's statement is harmful to students.

We have recently learned that you are a racist if you practice calisthenics, enjoy camping and hiking, like to eat chicken and waffles and drink milk, enjoy classical music, use the expression “cotton-picking,” study mathematics, and have Mike as your first name. Now, wanting a good education for your kids has been added to the list.

WEINGARTEN IS A MANIAC WHO SHOULD HAVE BEEN ARRESTED YEARS AGO.

I am just happy to live long enough to see this evil demon get what she deserves.

At least, I hope she gets it, Please Lord.

One would think teachers could select a better president for their union than a filthy ugly lesbian.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

That makes an awful lot of teachers racists, as a higher percentage of teachers send their kids to private schools than the general population.

I think at this point the radicals feel emboldened to mess with schoolchildren because so many of them are imported foreigners; few Americans breed anymore. The foreigners seem happy with “free” daycare and lunches.

Look at how NYC mayor Adams is booting the single young men from shelters in favor of children; THEY are the prize as we loot the nurseries of the Third World. In decades past, we would have never admitted “unaccompanied children” (think Elian Gonzalez); now we payt a premium to lure them across our border.

She can say whatever TH she wants - as parents flee the public schools over all kinds of issues - CRT, transgender issues, glorification of gays, ‘gender neutral’ bathroom - and all other kinds of dysfunction.

Parents have lots of choice - my own church has a home school coalition where the kids meet at the church for lessons, social interaction and instruction by parents, guest teachers and on-line schooling parents approve of. Anyone can join.

Negro children mostly go to terrible schools so wanting to have good schools is ipso facto racist.

If private unions ask for too much the company may go bankrupt and the unions loose their jobs. If government unions ask for too much the government just raises taxes. Public unions should be banned.
