One would think that it would be totally unnecessary to close churches that show favoritism towards Russia, if the people of Ukraine are anywhere near monolithically supportive of the Zekensky government. Those churches would have been closed for all intents and purposes by the avoidance of those churches by the people. This move smells of desperation and suggests Kiev is having trouble keeping their own ranks in line. Or they just get their jollies closing churches, stifling free choice, and making war against all things in any way related to Russian culture.

And here we are. One put up a thread about Biden getting bribes from The Ukraine and he supports the Ukraine war effort on his behalf.
On another thread..they are supporting the “it” defense spokesperson saying that the Ukies will “Hunt down all Russian propagandists worldwide. Posed the question to them..since they support hunting down “Russian” propagandists and since they consider those against this war “Russian: propagandists, would they support putting us into concentration camps..the answer was YES.

And now this..as well as not allowing for any future elections in that hole of a country.

Site is not moderated any longer. Or much of this crap would cease. And they want us to contribute?

Your source is an interesting publication. It uses the same name as the legitimate Telegraph, but it is not that newspaper. Instead it is a fringe website, supposedly in New Zealand, that was started in 2021.

It's authors don't seem like they are from New Zealand, in fact one of them is located in Kabul, Afghanistan. What do you notice about their names?

Aleksandar Pavic
Alexander Nepogodin
Alexandra Kovalskaya
Alexey Drobinin
Alexey Gryazev
Andrei Dergalin
Dmitry Pauk
Egor Shapovalov
Ekaterina Blinova
Elizaveta Naumova
Evgeny Mikhaylov

and many more. Mr. Drobinin says he is "the Director of the Foreign Policy Planning Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation."

Mr. Dergalin says he "has worked with Sputnik since its foundation in 2014" So does Ekaterina Blinova. So does Elizaveta Naumova. And Evgeny Mikhaylov.

Mr. Pauk says he is "a reporter for RT."

Your source has many people on the Russian government payroll writing articles, including a Russian government official.

Doesn't that tell you that what you are reading is the Russian government's point of view?

They use the argument that because Zylienski is ostensibly a Jew he can’t be a Nazi. A convenient cover if you ask me. The Nazi influence in Ukraine is undeniable.

Sensationalist FAKE ALL CAPS headline. It should not say “Christian Churches” but “Russian Spy Offices.”

You need to understand the players. The "canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church" is under the Patriarchate of Moscow. The Patriarchate of Moscow dances to the tune the Russian government plays, as they have for centuries.

The "Orthodox Church of Ukraine" is the "autocephalous" (self-headed) church _not_ under Moscow, set up by the decree of the Patriarch of Constantinople in 2018.

It's only the Russian-controlled Orthodox churches that are being closed.

Actually the Russian invaders have done far more damage to churches, and have shown astonishing anti-religious behavior. But you just want to post Russian propaganda talking points.

A few examples:

According to religious organizations and civil society activists, Russia’s occupation authorities in Donetsk continued to harass Protestant congregations attempting to host public religious events, even if such had gained registration. They charged, for example, that the U.S. government might be funding such events, and they publicly labeled congregations “American agents.” Protestant leaders and religious experts said they attributed such activities by Russia's occupation authorities in Donetsk as attempts to undermine the strong prewar presence of Protestants in the region.

According to Forum 18, in 2021, the Russia-led Donetsk “Justice Ministry” of the so-called “Donetsk People’s Republic” released an updated “list of extremist materials” containing 97 items, some of them religious. Most publications banned by the “Supreme Court” – including Jehovah’s Witness and Islamic publications – also appeared on the list. The “Culture Minister,” Mikhail Zheltyakov, instructed all institutions under the ministry's control to publicly display the lists of banned organizations and banned publications in their institutions. According to a 2021 Forum 18 report, the “State List of Extremist Materials,” by Russia’s proxy “authorities” in Luhansk, contained 26 items: 18 published by Protestants and six by Jehovah’s Witnesses. According to numerous, credible reports, Russia’s forces in many areas burned Ukrainian-language Bibles and other religious literature.

According to IRF, as of September 22, at least 270 religious buildings and sacred places had been damaged by Russian shelling, including 71 in Donetsk Oblast, 53 in Kyiv Oblast, 39 in Kharkiv Oblast, and 40 in Luhansk Oblast.

According to a study by the Workshop for the Academic Study of Religion (WASR), a Ukraine-based NGO, Russia’s forces were responsible for the widespread destruction of religious buildings, as well as the killing, wounding, and abduction of religious leaders. The study, Religion on Fire: Documenting Russia’s War Crimes against Religious Communities in Ukraine, stated that as of November 1, nearly 350 sacred sites in the country had been destroyed since the full-scale invasion, noting that the actual number could be much higher. Most of the damaged or destroyed religious sites belonged to the UOC (179), followed by Protestant communities (108), the OCU (24), Jewish (14), Muslim (6), Roman Catholic (5), and UGCC (3) congregations. Several other destroyed buildings belonged to the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, Karaites, and Krishna Consciousness Society. Most of those sites were houses of worship, as well as chapels, cemeteries, and other places of sacred significance for the respective communities. Most of the sites were in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts with others in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolayiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv Oblasts. The report stated there were at least 16 cases of targeted destruction of churches, among them a historic 19th-century wooden church in Lukyanivka, Kyiv Oblast, that was deliberately targeted by tanks

Source

The Russians you support so much destroyed hundreds of churches, but the Russian propagandists are pretending that some churches supposedly being closed while their congregations decide which Orthodox church to align with is a giant problem.

You claim to be "digusted" but you aren't the least bit upset about what the Russians have done. Why is that?

The Nazi influence in Ukraine is undeniable.

That's one of the dumbest things I have read on Free Republic in a while. What makes you think that?

Are all the rabbis meeting with President Zelensky in on your conspiracy too? Are they Nazi's with hats?

Danny right at home supporting the NAZIs in Ukraine. When this is all over, Ukraine should have distanced themselves from NATO and the Biden’s.

That is not what the article says. They had already shut down Russian Churches and what the heck right do they have shutting down churches? This is so obvious.

We were attacked on 9/11 by Muslims. Did we shut down all mosques?

You people have went along with taking away freedom to support a wretched corrupt country that has embraced Homos . That is what Ukraine churches are now.

Got some proof of that other than your posting it?

Ruthenian Cossacks pledged their loyalty to Russia with the Pereiaslav Agreement in 1654 following the Khmelnytski rebellion against the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Russian and Soviet historians considered this to be the reunification of Russia and Ukraine. Bohdan Khmelnytski soon became disillusioned with Russian rule. Poland tried to woo the Cossacks back with the Treaty of Hadiach with was ratified by the Polish Sejm, rejected by the Cossacks. According to historian Timothy Snyder the Cossaks rejected the treaty with Poland because they rejected the pledge to respect the Commonwealth's freedom of religion. According to Snyder, the Cossacks later regretted their decision, but it was too late.

Symon Petliura, a Ukrainian nationalist, fought with the Poles against the Soviets in the 1920-21 Polish-Russian War. At the peace talks in Riga, Lenin offered Poland all of Belarus and all of Ukraine west of the Dnieper, but this was rejected by Poland due to Western pressure. (By treaty, Poland's new borders needed the approval of its WWI allies.) As result, millions of Ukrainians died of starvation when the Soviets stole their harvests. Other historians note that Ukrainian peasants in the interwar period had marched to the border demanding that Poland invade and save them from Stalin, which is why he was more threatened by Poland than Germany.

The record is clear for anyone who wants to see it, but those still following Soviet historiography don't want to believe it. Polish President Duda as suggested that the eventual peace treaty with Russia should be signed at Pereiaslav, symbolizing Ukraine's rejection of another reunion with Russia.
