One would think that it would be totally unnecessary to close churches that show favoritism towards Russia, if the people of Ukraine are anywhere near monolithically supportive of the Zekensky government. Those churches would have been closed for all intents and purposes by the avoidance of those churches by the people. This move smells of desperation and suggests Kiev is having trouble keeping their own ranks in line. Or they just get their jollies closing churches, stifling free choice, and making war against all things in any way related to Russian culture.

The US did the same thing with mosques that actively supported ISIS, but we went further and arrested and prosecuted the individuals involved.
