President Joe Biden's son Hunter was indicted on Thursday on three charges related to false statements in the 2018 purchase of a firearm, prompting legal analyst Jonathan Turley to question the possibility of a presidential pardon.
Hunter Biden was previously charged with illegal possession of a firearm "as a drug user" and failing to pay federal income tax in June, according to filings from a Delaware District Court. His legal team agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors in which he would plead guilty to two misdemeanors for failing to pay federal tax but avoid prosecution on the felony firearms charge
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, after news of the indictment, Turley wrote, "This may be the first child of a sitting president ever indicted. I previously raised the possibility that Joe Biden could pardon Hunter and then cite that abuse of power as a reason for declining to run for reelection.
"There is little room for a defense here beyond what I previously raised: challenging the constitutionality of the underlying law under the Second Amendment. However, to do so, Hunter would be challenging a law that his father enthusiastically supports with cases that his father has vigorously condemned. Having Hunter go full NRA could present political problems for the President."

When Bill Clinton made some outrageous pardons as he was leaving office (including one of his brother), he got a few days of scolding from the mainstream media and then the story disappeared. So Biden may figure he can survive a few days of make-believe outrage from the MSM. But if he’s forced to resign or drop out of contention for 2024, he can pardon Hunter without consequences.
Hunter will never see the inside of a jail cell and perhaps never even see trial. Biden isn't running and he will pardon Hunter.
UH... Hunter will have the charges dropped. The trial will be held off for at least a couple years unlike the BS charges against Trump. And when no one is looking, charges will be dropped for some technicality, “Hunter was out of his mind on drugs and therefore did not know what he was signing when he bought the gun so he can’t be legally liable.”
All highly directed Kabuki theater by the DOJ, Chomo Joe, and the media.
And since this dropped the next news cycle will be yet another batch of Trump indictments.
To show how tough they are, how even-handed they are, how not-above-the-law they are, the “Justice” Department will throw the book at him and convict or plea deal to 50 years or whatever the sentence, it doesn’t matter a whit because they know FJB or his Democrat/Communist successor, no matter who it is, will issue an absolute presidential pardon. That’s how it will play out with the Democrat/Communists who outmaneuver their opponents — especially if the opponent is the feckless, scared-senseless-of-the-Left GOP — every time.
Instead, we are left with agents of sabotage to the constitution and our liberties, begging for the propaganda state to hire just six more relatives to the payrolls of the government subsidized media.
