First off. She would have to prove it isn't true, that they knowingly knew it wasn't true, and that they printed it anyway. Disproving a negative like that is hard to do. Suing for libel is not all that easy, even in England.

Stories like this run all the time, especially in England which has many scandal rags. Because there is no way of proving that they knew it was a lie, yet printed it anyway.

If liable suits were as easy as you claim, everyone who is the subject of bad press would sue.

There was that one lawsuit by the group of space aliens where the paper said they had consulted with the president. The aliens lost because they didn’t appear in court. They weren’t ready to show themselves to the world yet.

First off, that is absolutely not the test under English law so I'm not sure why I should read past this sentence. England has different laws than the United States. This is particularly true on defamation. Why do people who are ignorant of a topic insist on opining on it?
