I don’t know what it’s like now, but back in 2011 it was reported that the UK had more generals than battle-ready tanks.
On the plus side, that means every tank could be commanded not by a sergeant or a lieutenant, but by a general.

Col MacGregor makes this point often. During WWII, America had four, 4 star generals. Today there are more than 40.
