Ukraine said on Monday its troops had regained more territory on the eastern and southern fronts in the past week of its counteroffensive against Russian forces.
Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Maliar said in televised comments that Ukraine had retaken nearly 2 square km (0.77 square mile) of land around the eastern city of Bakhmut, captured by Russia in May after months of fighting.
She later added on the Telegram messaging app that the Ukrainian army had in the past week also recaptured 4.8 square km in the southern Tavria sector.
In her televised comments, Maliar said Ukrainian forces had captured part of the village of Opytne, south of the eastern city of Avdiivka, and had "partial success" near the village of Novomaiorske in the eastern region of Donetsk.
She reported "some success" near the villages of Andriivka and Klishchiivka south of Bakhmut.
Ukrainian troops have regained control of about 49 square km near Bakhmut since the start of the counteroffensive in early June, Maliar said. In the Tavria direction, over 256 square km had been recaptured, she said.

How many 100’s of million of dollars , Ukrainian deaths, and equipment losses per sq mile gained this summer?
Ukrainian troops have regained control of about 49 square km near Bakhmut…

Wow, according to casualty reports, that’s 400 Ukie dead/ kilometer…..and that is after the Ukies lost Artymovsk ( Russian for Bakmut). Artymovsk, still one of Vlad’s notable meat grinders….The Ukies (and western MSM) repeatedly stated Artymovsk had no military value….so why the continued slaughter?
Morning. Ukraine said this? We don’t believe anything they or you say.
Gimme a break!
Ukraine is a corrupt money pit that Americans are paying into to hide U.S. Congressional, Executive Branch, and Governmental crimes, investments, and tax shelters.
Ukraine has concentrated their 3-4 best divisions in once place to make this headway. These are the only remaining divisions that aren’t territorial defense newbies but have some semblance as combat battalions. If they get pulled into a cauldron and crushed, Ukraine has very little left.
Yes, I’ve read similar reports. It sounds right.
Zelensky will be here this month and Congress will be deciding on another $24 billion in aid for Ukraine. We will be treated to war propaganda this month. Ukraine is winning and the counteroffensive is successful.

“We have always been at war with Eurasia”
A neutral/pro Ukr blogger shares upsetting news. Speculation a British Guards soldier serving for Ukr was murdered by drowning by Ukr security. He belonged to an elite/fanatical assault unit and might have been complaining etc.
Also discusses other matters. Ukr Major-Gen states Russ weakening, gains near Robotyne. Etc.

Wow, according to Russian casualty reports
Fixed
I am of the opinion that Ukraine remains the underdog with a smaller army and less capability than the Russian forces. That being said, Ukraine should not measure “success” by territory retaken. The measure of success should be the destruction of Russian capabilities to conduct warfare.
This is now a war of attrition and the side that runs out of men, arms or food will be the one that fails.
“Ukrainian troops have regained control of about 49 square km near Bakhmut…”
Wonderful news. This brings the war within measurable distance of its end. Just one more push.
We are getting ripped off.
Update on the conflict in Ukraine for September 11, 2023
- Fighting continues around the village of Robotyne despite Western claims that Ukraine has pushed on south and southeast of it;
- Russian forces continue pressing along the line of contact across the Donbass region;
- The US is considering sending ATACMS to Ukraine. The long-range weapon system does not represent a capability Russia does not already have in greater quantities nor a threat Russia is not prepared to defend against;
- Western analysts are beginning to understand the missteps made during Ukraine’s offensive, however, they still insist expanding Western military industrial output quick enough to aid Ukraine in the current conflict is possible (it is not);
